There was a thread about that, he tweeted it wasn't him but a friend that had ordered. Time will tell, I guess.

He definitely sold the green SWB one

I think he sold the Coburn one aswell, at a loss, in order to raise funds for the GTO.

The article the OP is referring to speaks of Evans having obsessions over the years that he gets out of his system and then stops. The Ferraris being the latest.

IINM, he did this a few years ago, shortly before his first appearance on Top Gear. He dad a sizeable collection of cars and sold them all with the exception of his Mustang, 550 Maranello and a couple of others.

I'm sure he'll keep a few to pootle around in smile

Don't think he has sold the Coburn car.
The 288GTO,F40 etc have been on the market through Talacrest and as said the green Cali sold at auction earlier in the year.

According to the radio this morning he also has a 599GTO at the moment and has another Ferrari on order that he hopes to have by next years charity drive.

According to the article he is down to his last £20-£30 million. Considering he did have £87 million he has managed to spend a lot in the last few years. As to his cars he appears to have scratched that itch

It's not quite as simplistic as to say he's "down" to his last £20m.

He did was worth up to £87 million but that was in the heady days of just after he sold Virgin Radio.

After that he squandered a lot but also lost a load of it fighting a legal case against a newspaper, which he subsequently lost.

The last few years he's been fairly stable. He's certainly not fighting bailiffs away....;)

I was at the RM qaction in Monaco when his green 250 California and white 250 SWB sold.

The rest of th ewhite cars went through Talacrest.

He still has the Coburn car and a 458 I believe.

The Coburn California is sold. The 458 is not black. It is Vinaccia which is a sort of claret colour.

I honestly dont know if i would really want to whittle my collection down to just one car from 8-10 just so i could afford the 1 car.

I know that sounds a little odd but the whole point of a collection is that it presents variety in styles, speeds, era's,historys etc. If you sell them all just to buy 1. Then you literally just have a very expensive car and not a collection.

I think most people who buy a 250 would not need to sell their entire collection to pay for it if that makes sense.

Can you honestly now have the same enjoyment from 1 car ? Surely he now just craps his pants as his risk that was spread over 10 cars but is now all in 1 car ?

Just my thoughts

Does that mean "he" is going to race the GTO or "he" will provide the car for others to race on his behalf???

AIUI, the GTO was always his dream (as it is for a lot of Ferrari collectors)

Therefore, selling 4 or 5 'inferior' models for your dream car doesn't sound so silly.

Of course 'inferior' is a relative term but he's had enjoyment out of the ones he sold and is now buying the ultimate.

WRT risk, I think that's the last thing on his mind with his car collection. In terms of damage risk, they're all insured and he wouldn't let them out if he was worried about them.
In terms of financial risk I would say he doesn't need to worry about that with a GTO, long-term at least, either....
