Andrew, OK yes you have got me there. I love Zonda's. Hopefully one day I wil have one gracing the floor of my garage and, as a road car I would only have a manual gearbox. But the R is a track car and the flappy paddles are more relevant. If you are going for lap times then that gearbox is going to be faster.

I know I can be a bit of a Luddite sometimes but on occasions you just have to accept that some things are just right. And in this case the gearbox in the R is right for that car.

As for the traction control, that is a variable 12 stage device that if you are brave enough you can turn off. Therefore I approve biggrin

By the way did you notice that I did not criticise the gearbox in the 458 I recently drove? I may have strong opinons but I have wide enough shoulders to admit when I am wrong

If you can afford a zonda R, you can probably also afford your own track to play on.

thumbup I was just pulling your leg - each to their own!

I used to be a dyed in the wool manual fan, my Superleggera was manual (apparently one of only 10 worldwide). But I'm a fan of egear now, especially the F1 superfast in the 16M

No problem sir, no offence taken. I only fear my left leg withering away at some point in the future due to lack of usebiggrin

This car goes beyond simple desire. Look at the damned thing! Fantastic picture.

Here's a question. If Pagani are only limited by the contents of your wallet, surely a road version is possible? I don't want to hear "no" from anyone. Keep my fantasy alive and just nod and go along with it.

That’s what the Cinque was supposed to be. But if you wanted it to look exactly like the R they would have to build new moulds as there are no provisions for indicators and rear lights etc. Also the engine is a pure race motor that needs rebuilding every 5000 miles so would have to drop a 7.3 back in. You then run into the problem with that engine being wet sumped as apposed to the R's dry sump engine so the whole rear end would have to be re-engineered because the engine would sit higher etc etc etc.
The list goes on and on

How much money have you got?........

As Monsieur Bardinon can attest to, that doesn't mean you can use your own track... Mas du Clos has been closed because of the complaints of neighbours.
