Am looking for a winter project. There is a damaged 348 on ebay at £14.5K. Any views on what a decent price would be to pay?.. And any other views on it?

Thanks
Alex

appreciate you want a project but I bet at this time of year 20k (ish) buys this..

Surely the one on ebay would cost more than £5000 to repair satisfactorily and plus its always going to have that history.

From pics alone it needs:

2 front wings
rear wing
both bumpers (I've got a couple of spare sets in carbon that need painting)
head lights
indicators/side lights
front grill
air con
Exhaust
rear grill
rear light

And thats befor you start looking at the damage underneath the outer panels

Given the amount of work it would need, coupled with the cat C marker reducing repaired value, I'd say a few thousand less than the asking price, unless you've got cheap replacement panels and a paint shop!

What an absolute bargain!! Surely that values the smashed car at about ten grand?

That looks like a hell of a bash and the inner skins have been trashed as well by the looks of it. My 348 sustained A LOT lighter damage than that, and only on the outer surfaces and was written off.

The estimate to FIX mine was £17,500 and I thought they were being optimistic.

I would not pay anywhere near the asking price even if I could do all the work myself.

I had crashed one, damaged the front wing and front end and knot the pillar out and would have cost over £25K to properly repair by Nick Cartwright. Not worth it...

£5k.

It's shot to pieces and £23k buys a good one undamaged.

Thanks for the replys, very interesting...

My thoughts were £3-4K in parts/paint. My labour on top. So I though about 10 to 12k. The only thing is if you find more wrong with it as you mend it...

the guys a trader so no idea what he brought it for and what he would actually let it go for

My feeling with all of these 'damaged repairables' (& I've seen & priced a few for clients - including a 430 that would have taken about it's own finished value to sort out alone without the purchase price!!!!) is that if they are financially viable they NEVER come to market - almost all of the salvage companies have a very close tie up with bodyshops (many have a bodyshop as part of their setup anyway) and all of the viable stuff is done by them & sold on as recorded/repaired.
These jobs only make sense if you can do ALL of the work (including jig etc) yourself.
Just my opinion & experiencethumbup

Bearing in mind that the front side/fog light units are £850/900 EACH + VAT, and no, you can't get them second hand. So that's £2k straight away just on your fog lights smile

And I hope the guy does have two front wings, because they are not even available from the factory now!

IMHO that, sadly, is only worth it for spares.
