Went down to Brighton today as sun was shining at last. Returned to car to find 2 traffic wardens taking photos of the Gallardo parked on a meter. Fearing the worst I approached expecting a ticket. Actually they were 2 really nice guys taking photos as they liked the car so much. Even joked could I wait 5 minutes so they could give me a ticket and make their day!!! So not all wardens are £"!%^&s!!Hence the oyxmoron - a nice traffic warden!!

I need to buy a gallardo then, as I got my car ticketed this afternoon after the ticket ran out while standing in line waiting to pay. Walked passed a long line of ticketed cars on the way to mine, so it was no surprise the ticket ninja's got mine.

Depends where you live. I once got my car out of my garage in Camden and parked it on double yellows outside my house, nipped in to the house for literally 2 mins to get something, came back out to find a warden giving me a ticket. No sympathy, no negotiation, nothing. Yet down on the south coast most of them are much more sympathetic, I have had them let me move the car to avoid getting a ticket.

2 minutes, 2 seconds, 2 hours...irrelevant. You parked on double yellows, which are there because you can't park in that location. End.

I did, I was just making a parrallel comment about people complaining they got a ticket for, erm, doing something they shouldn't have being doing.

Oop 'ere, the traffic wardens are a bit job-justifying, but I personally wish they'd give out a lot more tickets, to those cretinous old people who think they can park anywhere becuase they've got a blue badge! Grrr.

2 minutes is a bit harsh I suppose, but how long should a warden wait until the driver comes back, we know we shouldn't park on double yellows, so tough when you get a ticket.

I wish they would be that quick up where I work. Ignorant parking is rife in Aberdeen.

This was a quiet mews, hardly any through traffic, not causing an obstruction. Funny thing is that at the very end of the road is a garage that parks it's customers cars in a line of sometimes about 5 or 6 cars on the double yellows. Never once have they ever got a ticket. I heard through the owner of the garage that the odd free service given to the warden ensured he got no tickets.

I live in St Albans where parking is an arse, even all around my house, but I have to say all the traffic wardens I have encountered have been nice people, even letting me get away with things now and then. Lurking well past time if I have used spots outside my house to give me a chance to spot them and move the car. They haven't ever given me a ticket (yet).
