Despite having a tough experience with a 2008 Gallardo (Spyder), selling it after only three weeks and losing more money than owning a helicopter for the same amount of time... for some reason, I am looking at the car again... this time a LP560 coupe. maybe looks, sound, engine, experience. My issues before were daft turning circle, lack of storage and my wife (and other road users) hated the car - which made it non-option for weekends away. This time around, I'm thinking, first, dont tell the wife, second, make it a keeper and third, the coupe has more space than the Spyder.

The prices seem to be holding up. Is this true or are there simply very few cars around? Or, is the new G around the corner and I'll get shafted again on pricees...? Lambo dealers are hopeless in this respect "oh, mate they are rare and there's not many around" blah blah...

Thanks for your insight informed PH'ers

1) Few cars around, a lot were exported abroad, so prices holding strong.

2) Not much difference between the coupe and spyder in terms of storage.

3) Get a dark colour and you will be ok.

4) Don't let the wife rule you, you're the man. I do what I want and the wife doesn't question it. And another tip, if you don't ask and just do, the wife won't have an option.

Prepare for bedroom gymnastics to be severely curbed for an unspecified period of time. Leaves you more time to get out and drive the motor however scratchchin

I've had a black Gallardo and now White Murci (up for sale due to wife 'falling' pregnant); i do not think colour has anything to do with how other road user perceive you.

Ive never had anything put very positive experiences (people letting you out on junction; people letting you reverse onto a main road blind - a stand manoeuvre if the air intakes are up, etc). Compate that to experiences i had when i drove a cayenne (swearing, scratches, stickers on car saying im killing the earth, causing asthma etc) - polar opposites....

One thing I have noticed is that those in spyders/soft tops tend to get more negativity - as some people 'perceive' the owners as arrogant 'look at me' types (only when the roof is off) - when in fact most owners just want to feel the heat on their (usually balding) heads on a sunny day.

LP560 will be my choice when i re-enter the market in 2012 - good looking cars, wow factor, and hopefully lambo will not retire them for a few years to come yet...

New Gallardo almost certainly coming for Geneva 2012.
I would have thought dealers would be very flexible on pricing right now. There's a lot of newer metal out, witness the silly special editions like the performante and bicoloure, as well as cheaper lp550. Also I understand dealers need to sell Gallardos to get allocations of the lp700.

Women are attracted to men who lead, they are not attracted to wuss bags to kiss their a55 and do what they say. In this regard expect to become a bedroom olympic athelete.

Do what you want and keep things fun and surprising - because you are the man!

If you sold a Gallardo based on it's lack of turning circle and luggage space, then you really don't seem like the sort of person that should be considering buying one again.

Perhaps a London Taxi would be more to your liking smile

I first had a yellow coupe, and although it looked great, it stood out and came across flash and people did comment.

My second Gallardo was a black spyder, and that attracted positive comments and attitude from others, even my non car liking friends.

I found living with a White spyder very difficult compared to the black coupe I had previously. To much attention for me.
