I have bought a 3200GT with a bypassed heater
Discussion
Gidday all,
I am new to this site, and resident in Sydney, NSW, Australia. I have owned a 222-4V for several years now, and had huge fun with it. Today a paid the big bickies for a 2000 delivery 3200GT manual. Fortunately, I noticed that the heater matrix had been bypassed before a price was agreed on, but now I have the job of getting to it so that I can repair or replace it. I think I will end up learning a lot about how the interiors of 3200s are put together!
Has anybody done this job before who may be able to provide some suggestions? All guidance greatly appreciated!!
I have enjoyed maintaining my 222-4V, including replacing the timing belt (which was OK once you got to the thing), and have restored several cars over the years. Biggest project was my 1928 Daimler 35/120. This is a 2.5 ton knight sleeve valve monster which I bought as a engine/chassis. I know every nut & bolt on it intimately!
So the complexity of a 3200 doesn't frighten me, but I feel it would be pretty stupid to attack it without a factory workshop manual and parts list. I have poor quality photocopies for the 222-4v, and they have been invaluable. I believe I can get paper based ones for the 3200 through an Aussie company, but I would prefer to have them on soft copy, printing out what I need when I need it. I can see the topic comes up a fair bit through this forum, so if somebody could point me in the right direction it would also be appreciated.
Any recomendations on good parts sources? Quite happy to import from O/S rather than buy from the Australian dealers.
Thanks in advance for any guidance - hopefully with time I will be able to reciprocate.
John
