I need to replace the rubber on the 355 and was wondering what people used as I'm looking for an alternative to the current P zeros.

Can people please post with;

Car Make/ model
Brand of tyre
Mileage and lifetime for Fronts
and the same for rears

Also cost if they know.

Cheers in advance!
Jonty

Ferrari F355 spider

michelin pilot sport 2's
maybe done 1000 miles all round; all 4 still like new.
much better than the previous p-zero's in my opinion on grip wet & dry, wear and noise; basically all round then!
cost was about £900-£1000 if i recall.

Hmm, heard someone else rave about Michelins before on a 355. Not replaced a full set of P zeros, so not sure on how they compare.

Please keep the info coming though, will hopefully be a useful thread for others in the future too!

F430

Pilot sport 2's
Last set I got about 7000 out of them.
The car came with P-Zero's and are supposed to have them (it's on the door post label) but they didn't inspire confidence in me at all, I changed them long before they got worn.

The only slight downside is the cars profile is a little more untidy with the PS2's.

This is interesting, as with any other type of car the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A is not a great tyre... in fact it's barely pushing average.

This means one of two things

1/ The compound / construction is totally different in the larger sizes

or

2/ People have stuck with the Bridgestones and not tried any of the current "great" tyres, like the MPS or Sport Contact 5P.

One thing I'll never forget is clarkson saying if they'd taken the Bridgestone tyre off the Enzo and put the Pirellis on (he wasn't any more specific than that) it would have been a few seconds faster (around somewhere I couldn't remember, perhaps the topgear track)

Food for thought anyway.

When ordering a California the dealer recommened specifying Bridgestone over Pirelli. Nothing in it for the dealer, I guess its just their experience.
I'll soon know if its the right call.

When they talk about better on Pirelli's they refer to Corsa's ? Can you get them in the sizes you need ?

Not sure. Apparently you cant get the Bridgestones in the right size for the 355 though?

So far its looking more likely I'll go with the Michelins. Though looking at £900. Cant make my mind up whther its worth the premium over the Pzeros.

How do Pzeros compare to Corsas?

A lot of people rate PZero Corsa's very highly including a Mr Plato I believe. I am going to stick some on my M6 next but I haven't been driving my car much recently so have put it off until the weather improves a bit. They cost £1300 a set for my car (direzionale on the front and asimmetrico on the rear). Not that I am suggesting my car is a "supercar" btw wink

my 1994 355GTB is running on bridgestone SO-1s.
i have done about 10,000 miles on them and have just started to think about replacement tyres ,so will follow this thread closely .
the SO-1s appear to be pretty good in both the wet and dry.

bridgestone SO-1's were one of the three original factory options (together with michelin and pirelli )
the service manager at my closest main dealer recently suggested that i stick with the SO-1's and gave me a quote of £700 (not including VAT ) for a full set of 4 fitted
i understand that SO-2's are not available in the appropriate sizes

so, sometimes you have to go back to older technology, but this at least has the advantage of having been fully tested by the factory at that time

it would be good to get more feedback on how the michelin pilots fare on 355's

Been shopping around with tires and come across Continental Contact 3's. Does anyone have any experience with these on a Ferrari or other supercar/ high end car?

Usually used on Mercs and Beamers apparently. Just tempted by price and usually been ok with conti's in the past?

This isn't aimed at you Jonty so please don't take offence, it's something I've seen several times in the past.

I'm always a little surprised by owners of supercars shopping for tyres on price.
Of all the wonders built into these precision dream-saters the tyres are the bit that join it - and you - to the real world, they must be top priority. Of course it's common sense to shop around for the best performance tyre or the safest tyre but the cheapest?

If you're paying a 100 grand plus for a car I can't see how saving a few hundred quid and significantly reducing the level of joy paid back can ever be justified.
