I was just wondering how easy it to get a Gallardo in a single garage.

its a full size one, and i know you can get them with folding wing mirrors, but what sort of width do you need to be able to get the door open?

7ft garage door will be ok for getting in the opening. problem you'll have is opening the doors if a single. So depends on width you have past the door frame on either side.

reasonable width on the left, restricted on the right - its been fine for all my other cars, but sounds like i'd probably have to reverse in to be able to get out.

cheers.

I find getting out is the easy part, if you reverse out, you can use your mirrors for a bit until you have to fold them in to get past the narrow bit by the door. I find it quite difficult to judge the width of the bonnet going into the garage, my wife usually assists me. I have carpet on the garage walls to protect the doors when opening them.

Ian, lucky couldnt get one in his garage when he was going to sell the Aston (well he could but then couldn't open the doors to get out) Is yours bigger than his?

On another note get your finger out and organise a night out if you're allowedsmile

yeah, we talked about that - i need to have a nosey at his garage, but as mine is detached i think i have a little more width so im hoping i can open the door.

And yeah, definatley - plus shes buggered off for the last time, so no permission needed..

I reverse in to mine then bring the mirrors in just before I reverse in totally. Place a small plastic bottle (hamster water bottle)on some string and hang from a joist and when this hits the spoiler over the rear window I know I've enough room to shut the garage door.

When I used a single garage, I fixed a mirror on the far wall of the garage - I could then judge the gap down one size.

well, I think a Gallardo is out of reach, but i've put the Z4M up for sale anyway - see what sort of interest I get and go from there...

I prefer underlay - it's softer, with less chance of friction, and more 'give'.

Lurker not owner (actually have Fidgit's old Elise) but I use pipe wrap on the walls and that offers a lovely absorbant surface which you're not scared to rest the door on. If you look in the rear view mirror you can see the delta detail on the corner of the blockwork column, just in case you pull up a bit short or whatever.

Let me know what replaces the Z4M, old chap.

Managed to get my cerbera in a single garage, had to fit sponges to the walls as doors could not be opened without touching walls, not sure if it was as wide as a gallardo though.
