Maserati 4200 battery change
Discussion
Hi all
Dug the Maserati out from winter hibernation over the weekend, and despite a battery aid whilst parked, and a good long run ( a few hours) the battery does not sound too healthy. SO I reckon a new one is the order of the day.
Can I just disconnect old / reconnect new, or do I have to maintain power at all times? Any tips or hints?
Cheers
Andy

Andy,
I replaced mine a couple of weeks back and all I did was turn the isolator switch off before disconnecting the battery and then when it was reconnected, gave the car a couple of mins to 'settle'.
Touch wood, other than the sat nav resetting to factory settings, I don't seem to have had any problems.
Cheers

Thanks for that Woody
The current battery has a vent pipe attached to it, but none of the ones I have been looking at as replacement have such a fitting.
Is this pipe still necessary? I could buy from Eurospares, but they want about 250 quid, whereas the on-line boys selling top spec Vartas and such like are a third of this!

To be honest, I dont know 100%. I read about the vent pipe but I dont think mine had one. The battery I replaced mine with was a Bosch from Halfords (I know! You can certainly buy cheaper) which came in at a little over £110. It was actually slightly more powerful than the original and is a sealed unit.
I dont know if the Coupe is the same fitting but its a right tight fit - mind your knuckles.
There's a thread on Maseratiforum.co.uk talking about which battery to use but I cant find it (I've been looking for c10 mins!), sorry.
