A friend of mine has allowed a few of his close friends to use his Lambo when ever we want as he says it doesnt get enough use and as long as he doesnt find out we are playing silly buggers then he is fine.

So Im wanting to know if there is any such insurance that we can take out every now and again for if we want to use his car for a long weekend?

He lives in london and the car is down in Poole, hence the not getting much use out of it, but hes not willing to part with it and who am I to complain if I get to play in a car and just need to cover insurance and fuel.

I've had a couple of people insured on my cars periodically including my Lambo.

The easiest way is for the owner to contact his insurance company and add you on as a named driver for a fixed period of time. You can then of course remunerate him his expenses.

To my knowledge, a car cannot be insured by two companies simultaneously so it has to be done through the primary insurer for the vehicle.

Yep, i was under the impression this was illegal too?

It'll be far cheaper to add you to his policey for a limited period than get your own anyway. Unless of course this spare lambo is currently uninsured?

Nope its completely insured, hes just offering close friends the use of it, so I reckon the next idea is to se how much it costs for me to be added to his insurance for a weekend.

Adding a friend to my V8 Vantage for a week is costing me a straight £22.50; probably you'll have the same as it's more an admin thing than actually difficult.

Might not work for supercars, but it was cheaper for me to add a named driver to my policy for the remainder of the year than it was for just a two week period. Don't ask why, but check with the insurer if in fact that might work out cheaper.

My insurance lets me drive anyones car with the owners permission. Ask your insurer about this policy?

I added a friend (age 29, no points etc) to my insurance on a 360 Spider. Minimum period of cover was 3 days, cost was.... £20.00 Great result I thought.

how does "any driver" work?

I look it up and it says that any driver specified on the policy so like a named one then, plus I cant find any details on what the "any driver" limitations are, for example:

Must have no convictions
Currently have no insurance (will be an issue as many of us are in London and need no full time car)
etc, etc...

Thats jsut TPO cover though, so if OP crashed the Lambo it the insurer wouldn't repair or payout for the Lambo which obviously wouldn't be a good thing.

If he insures with Chubb he is able to allow anyone to drive his cars fully comp with his consent.

That's only with a Masterpiece policy. Chubb do offer normal insurance as well!
