Per another post, am looking at 430s, and am half thinking about a Scud instead of a standard car. Is it really worth the premium both from the POV of the car, and holding (ish) value for a few years. Probably going to hold on to the car for 2 or 3 years.. until the new Esprit is out (mmmmm). Should I just stick to the standard car or bother with the extra. I guess I really want a convertible and the Scud 16M is just too much money I think, so that part decides for me but there's a few coupe's at about 135k which could be fun....

Thoughts?

Not driven a scud but if its for road driving and you arent going to keep it indefinately I'd say the standard 430 Spider. I drove one down to Monaco last summer and it was a great car.

That said I think standard cars will depreciate a lot more than the Scud on the next few years (at least until they release a hardcore version of the 458).

I suspect a well priced Scud now will hold value better over a few years than a standard 430. Much better car, and rare.

But 50k more expensive to start with - looking at 360CS's, they probably won't go below 110 or so any time soon but that's still a 25k drop. Whether (nice) 430 Spiders will fall to say 60k in the same period remains to be seen but I'd guess not as 458 Spiders, when they turn up, are going to be probably 220k or so!

I owned a 430 for a while and driven two Scuderias. The 430 is great, but the Scud is awesome.....with everything turned to 11. Think Lotus Elise to Exige S.
