Could anyone please confirm what cross over parts that these two models share, I understood that the 355 was an evolution of the 348 but not sure how much parts wise they have in common.

The 348 was panned and the 355 praised but are they essentially the same car but upgraded.

Appreciate any help as it may decide which direction I take on a project

cheers

I know this is hugely debatable, but I prefer the look of the 348 boxedin

Not entirely sure. I think surprisingly little is actually carried over, mechanically. Possibly some ancillary bits like alternator, but even then I'm not sure.

I am sure some one on here had carried out a fairly extensive panel conversion so that the end result was more F355 than 348. I've searched but I cannot find the post. There is some discussion at Club Scudeira about the rear light conversion.

The key things I am interested in are suspension corners, engine cradle, engine, gearbox and driveshafts, mainly the interchangability of key mechanical components between the 348 and 355 bodyshell

Your best bet would be to get over to the Eurospares website and start looking at the exploded parts diagrams for the two models..... note down some part numbers and cross-reference. There is quite a lot of commonality and interchangeability as the primary structure is essentially the same.
