Thinking of buying a Quattroporte, looks like an 06 Sport GT would fit the bill. What is sensible money for a good spec car, good condition car? There seems to be quite a variance in price in the adverts due to low volumes I suppose. Would be interested to hear from recent owners on what the Market is like.

Thanks.

I just sold a 2005 normal QP for 20k, values are reasonably weak so pick and choose and work the bid. Also, depsite what main dealers want to tell you, you can get a good warranty from the likes of Warranty Wise, but the maximum payout per claim could be limited to 5000 I think.

Also, like all these cars, DO NOT get a low milage car. Its a fallacy that they are worth more, they are worth much less as they have not been run properly. Would suggest nothing less than 4000-5000 miles a year, so 25,000 miles minimum. The car is very good and strong, I drove my car in London's traffic for 4 years and change the clutch once.

I wouldn't pay more than £35k retail for an 06/56 Sport GT Duo Select with around 30k on, I would also look for an early ZF car at this price albeit not a Sport GT and compare the two and see which you prefer.

Sorry but your "DO NOT get a low milage car" is nonsense. Buy on condition not mileage. In any case how has a low mileage car not been run properly? Don't understand that one! Maserati's are viewed in a similar way to Ferrari's, big miles hit their values hard. The other major price indictor is colour/spec, most of the cheaper cars out there are in nasty colours/combos and/or high mileage. At present only 10 cars sub 35k on Autotrader so there's not much choice about, some other cars above this have been around a while so it maybe a matter of making offers and seeing what happens.

You are confusing price and value, the idea that higher milage cars are priced lower is undisputed, however their value is lesser. Our cars need to be used, and used frequently. I paid up for my 612 because it was single owner and had done about 25k miles. I would not touch with a bargepole a similar age car that had done only say 8k and had had several owners. Irrespecitve of service record.

This means that within reason the higher the milage the more value there is in that car, as the market prices it lower but it is a better car. More miles means more chances of problems working themselves out and that they were dealt by the previous owner.
