If you could only have one (and it was given to you - i.e. ignoring the price) would you rather have a Lamborghini Aventador (LP700) or the Mclaren MP4-12C?

McLaren - I'd be less likely to kill myself in that as I'd have to turn all the clever tricker to the 'on' position as I've never owned a car with that much power.

+1 for the Lambo with nobs on!! No competition. The Aventador has something the McLaren will stuggle to achieve - presence. I am sure the McLaren is a fantastic drive but it looks like a Lotus. The Aventador looks like a stealth fighter!

Isn't the Lambo around £100k more? Not a fair comparison if it's more expensive, unless you are comparing performance... wink

Aventador,easily.

But just on a positive note The mclaren is an awesome car in my IMO and would take one over a 458.

Lambo for me, the Mclaren looks dull as hell, its bad when a lexus (lfa) looks more outrageous than your supercar.

Aventador by a mile,

I personally don't see them in the same ball park though, I would say the McLaren is more comparable to the 458 or LP560-4 rotate

Aventador over an MP2-12C... but I'd rather have a 458 than either.

Of course the Lambo looks better and more dramatic. The Lambo wouldnt see which way the Mclaren went if Chris Harris's EVO review is anything to go by. Mclaren is untouchable, so yes, it would be a total miss-match.

I think you are missing the point. Most people agree the MCLaren is the best drivers car produced for some considerable time but isn't this the same argument about Porsche GT2/3 against Ferrari and Lambos? If you want a great track car go for the McLaren or GT2/3. If you want something special that has real presence and is a great place to travel in, go for the Lambo. No contest!

I agree with you and i believe i made that point with regards on it looks. I am a big Lambo fan. My point was as a performance car which the Lambo essentially is/was, the Mclaren has it numbered.
