I know this is a very vauge question, however I'm looking for ballpark figures from those more familiar with Ferrari values than myself.

How much do you think I'd lose in this if I bought it and used it over the summer? Not looking to keep long term, I just fancy a convertible and that looks / sounds / will drive nice smile

If you bought there, did say 2k miles and sold it back to the trade, £8-9k maybe? Maybe more as prices seem to drop after spring/summer

Maybe a Super Car Club would be the better option for you. They're very addictive tho' .... : )

In my opinion you will buy at high point in the market and be selling at lowest point as Spider prices definately drop in the Autumn. Either go the Supercar Clud route of keep it for 12 months and sell to someone with same idea as you but in 12 months time.
What you are suggesting is an expensive was to get the sun in your hair!!

As soon as you pick it up you'll lose the dealer margin.

If you want to minimise depreciation and for such a short period, I'd buy privately and sell privately. I'd also start at the lower end of the market. Less to lose.

+1

As already said you'll probably lose somewhere around £8-10k if you sell it back to the trade. If you sold it privately then maybe £5k at a guess. You would be much better buying a cheaper car privately and selling it privately.

Ring some dealers up and ask what trade in you would get on a car with matching spec?

Then add a bit if you can be bothered to sell privately.

I reckon if you budget a loss of £10-15k you will be there or there abouts.

Don't forget it can take a fair while to sell a car like this so don't bank on selling quickly if you want to hold out for top price.

Good luck with it!!

Hmmm, might leave it. I fancy something a bit interesting over summer and would keep the 997 as a daily driver. Got a few businesses expenses coming up however that might be a better use for the money.

Would I be safe in assuming the cars won't cost you that much outside servicing/insurance, if you pick a good one and it's had all the recent belt changes?

Do this.

I did the same last summer, although I left it until May to buy; I managed to get out of it at the end of the year and make enough profit to cover the interest on the payments, the new tyres I put on it and still had a few £ extra. Right time/Right place though.

If you buy from a dealer/sell to a dealer, you would be, as the others have said, looking at about an £8-10k hit I reckon.

I'll lend you mine over the summer (abroad till August so it's sat in the garage) for half the depreciation. Actually serious smile
