Money for nothing

So, I stop at a Lamborghini dealer for a re set on the warning lights after a service at a well known indie and after 45 mins of searching for the diagnostics plug and showing them where it was, I left with the same problem (after telling the miserable sour faced manager that it had not worked) Charging me 80 quid.
How does that work.
I wont be returning

I won't lead you in to naming and shaming but I would bet a grand I know who it was. All I can say is that they're not all like that. It's such a short sighted view. I'm the sort of bloke that if they'd done it for nothing and been friendly, I would tell 10 people and they'd get a load more business from me. Some people just don't look at the long term.
Indies can be just as bad.
I went to a well know Ferrari herts based business with my Gallardo once, as I had a brake warning light and was passing. They didn't manage to fix the problem, only confirm what I already knew (broken brake pad cable) and they charged me £80 quid for looking at it for 30 minutes, didn't fix it. I had said when I first went in that I thought it was a broken brake pad cable.
On the other hand I have had Lambo main dealers handle some bits for me for free...
So it definitely works both ways.

Did you ask them to diagnose what the problem was or to fix the problem as you already knew what was wrong? I asked them to fix the problem assuming it was what I suspected. But he came back and said he didn't have enough time to do the actual fix, and only confirmed what I thought. They rebooked me in for 3 days later and then charged me for the "investigation". I did not go back.
About 2 months later I actually had someone from the place call me back and apologise. They saw I had posted this sort of message (with their name) to PistonHeads.
They we all pretty much useless when I had untold problems with my Gallardo back in 2006/7 lambo assist was useless.
The last straw was taking it for a new clutch ( its second in 3K miles- this was the third clutch revision- to be told the RMS was leaking- took ages for italy to authorise it. When I got it home the gearbox was leaking oil- all the warning lights were on again and upon driving it back the power steering pump shaft broke.
Very frustrating and never to be repeated!

My diablo doesnt like the battery being disconected, it always comes back with a problem, I asked the indy to leave the ecu with power whilst they took the engine out for an exhaust fix, they said thats ok. when i got the car back the carter motor wasnt working properly, This is the third one, Warning lights are on again. When the car was at the factory in italy the techy told me that the ecu needs telling if anything has been changed, so I popped in to lambo reading, ok fair enough I popped in out of the blue, they have the correct software and ecu plug for the 6.0, fair enough as well the techy wasnt trained on the 6 but for f#ck sake charging me for a no fix and where did the worshop manager get his manners.
It is an easy fix.
Think I will just drive to italy as there doesnt seem to be anyone over here that is clever enough.

Did you then hire some ppl to smash it up with sledge hammers as a PR stunt? The last straw was taking it for a new clutch ( its second in 3K miles- this was the third clutch revision- to be told the RMS was leaking- took ages for italy to authorise it. That would have been a good idea, but being less wealthy I just sold the car for a huge loss- and the lambo dealers sure did not want to bid for it! I recal the day i sold it being a bit sad of its departure- I shut the drivers door and the speaker grill fell out- this had been stuck on for the third time by Lambo with sone silicon sealant! It really was a pile of ***ite

Maybe the warning lights are on for a reason, rather than just needing a reset?
Or...
Why dont you ask the independent garage that you saved money at, to reset them for you as part of their service??
Yet another helpful comment DrClark, phased in way that somehow feels condescending....Or...

Feel for you Jon, must have something to do with your gentle driving style!
