A nice little article and pics from Jay Leno in yesterdays Sunday Times Motoring Section. He still loves his Countach after over 20 years of ownership.

I liked the bit about taking the lad to school "thanks for the ride Uncle Jay"

"see you after school Billy, we'll go drive some more" hehe

I have had my Countach since the end of 1997. I still get goose bumps when I start her up and go for a drive. It's just tremendous.........bounce

My eldest (10) asked me to take him to school in the Countach last week when the sun was out. He must have his eyes on a new lass. Good excuse to take it out anyway smile

OK, Im not a "kids" kind of guy, but that would have me seriously chuffed with the kid. smile Id be asking him for the exact moment he wanted me to pull up and making sure he had the sunglasses and pose correct, rehearsing his exit from the car.

The countach still has that wow factor more so than many modern cars and I think a bit more than the murci/diablo/gallrado ( tin helmet and armour on for incoming! )

It would be nice to have a meeting of the countachs in the UK some time?

I had four at the Scottish Italian Car and Bike day last august and would be nice to have some come up here on 14th august for the next event or some other venue?

Most I saw together in the UK was back in the 90's at lambo events

I know Ken has had quite a few on his chateux runs.

Any views?

I suspect this partly down to its rarity, you just don't see them on the road plus for those of a certain age they were the first of the mad cars and iconic.

Diablos are probably very similar in that you really don't see many about. Other than meets and events like Supercar Sunday the average man in the street never sees these cars.

They are the only proper mad cars with wings, arch extensions, Air boxes (or ears as they are sometimes referred to) Naca ducts, scissor doors and 355 tyres.

They are fab in a photo but the dogs nuts in real life.

Gotta disagree with JMC1, wink I find that the Countach is a pleasure to drive and own and provided its serviced regularly is very reliable clap . In contrast, my Diablo was a nightmare evil living upto its name and a real disappointment, so much so that I sold it with the promise of never again.
Now looking for a nice F430 F1......to complement "the collection".......

rdbrooksie I think you misunderstood me I love the Countach the only real proper bonkers looking supercar ever. I sold my red 5000S 4 years ago after 12 years of ownership and I am still regretting it. After 6 years I nearly swapped it for a Diablo even drove a couple but changed my mind last thing.
Once the property market gets a bit better I would like to buy another one probably an anniversary like yours, might be a while yet though.

Hi, sorry about that.......guess living in the colonies all my years hasn't helped with my English and I misunderstood you!
I have come close to selling the Countach a few times but when it has come to the crunch have pulled out as I believe I would regret it totally. They really are awesome cars and are superb to drive, despite TopGear indicating otherwise.
The car will be at Cliveden as well as Brooklands (autoitalia event) bouncebounce in the coming months, though I notice that there seems to be a lack of Countachs attending.....

rdbrooksie DO NOT sell as I said I regret letting my 5000s go. After all you would struggle to find another in the same unusual colour as yours (which I think looks fab).

Am I right thinking that Emblem looks after yours, Martin Chatfield is a great guy he used to look after my Fathers Tuscan challenge car when he was at Emblem / Nigel Mansell's at Pimperne.

Is that the green one that was at emblem a few weeks ago? If so I was admiring it when I dropped the spyder off.
