I've been invited to 2 track days at Goodwood but there is a noise limit of 105dB at the circuit.

Anyone know if I'm Ok or not.

Simon, I know you've run one extensively on track so would be good to get your input.

Anyone else's would be welcome too.

Thanks,

It depends on the number of revs at which they measure the sound level.

Unless it's something quite low (< 3k), which is really unlikely and senseless, then I really doubt it will pass; an F430 with stock exhaust got 106.8Db at 4.5k, which, considering it measures sound pressure rather than volume, is at least 150% of the sound level (I think) of 105Db.

I reaaaally doubt a Murci is quieter than a stock f430.

Goodwood test at 3/4 revs and are very very strict about it

Having been to Goodwood a number of times over the years they take noise testing very seriously and also have noise detection around the circuit - if you want to get a realistic noise estimate of the car then you could buy a dB tester from somewhere like demon tweeks or pop down to your local circuit and ask them to test the car.

I would guess at 3/4 revs the noise would be well in excess of 105dB but there will be a solution such as buying a bigger/more effective silencer or putting on one of those awful noise reduction caps on the exhaust

I had mine checked at my local indy, from memory it was around 110db at 3/4 revs.
Put a Tubi on after that and never tracked it.

Thanks Chaps.

Any ideas on where to source silencers form and recommendations for a good one. I did a quick google search but they all seem to be replacement exhausts. Is this a big job or something that can just be fitted on for the day and taken straight off afterwards.

Most of the one's I've seen rely on having standard sized(ish) tail pipes that can have the add-on silencers fitted easily. Considering the 640's unique tailpipe I doubt they'd have something at the circuit that fits.

You should be fine @ 105db ours measures around a 100db at around 4500-5000 rpm.I'm assuming you've got a standard system on it? Make sure you get it fully warmed up first though as they are alot louder when cold.

Andy.

Spot on smile

Interestingly actually on the track Gallardo's are the noisiest, with the 430's very close behind.
