288GTO F40 or F50
Discussion
Hyperthetical question.
If you could have just one of the above which one would you have?
Only reason i ask is because one of each are up for auction in a week or so - the GTO & F40 have both done just 125 miles each since they left the factory....
Having driven a GTO & an F40, but not an F50 (anyone want to lend me one for a day????) it would be between the GTO & F40 although i cant decide.
Tough choice isnt it?

It doesnt say that in the write up in the May issue of Classic Cars. It says 'The 1986 288 GTO and the 1990 F40 have each covered just 125 miles from new'.
They are up for auction with Bonhams @ RAF Hendon on 11 April.
I adore both of these cars & i would be hard pushed to choose between them however if i had to make a choice i think, emphasis on think, i would take the GTO.

Small print is a wonderful thing! I actually think Bonhams were a bit naughty on this one; the details they sent me when they were inviting entries had no mention of the accidents so I can see why CC said what they did. The catalogue however tells a different story...(so still F50 for me in this case!)They are up for auction with Bonhams @ RAF Hendon on 11 April.

The small print tells the truth doesnt it? Surely then the cars cannot be classed as 'new' as the blurb in CC says?
I think that i would probably walk away from both of these particular cars just in case however it will be interesting to see what they sell for at the auction.
It does however seem a pity that neither car has been used since they were re-built. Would the lack of use cause a future owner any problems i wonder?

I would not believe most mileages of 288's or F40's so wether they were zeroed or not after rebuild makes not difference. If you were to sum up all the mileages of 288 GTOs advertised over the years they will probably not get to more than 300k!For me the 288GTO. Turned one down when they were well under 200k because it had accident history and quite regret it now.
