430 Spider around £75k, 2005
360 Spider around £52k, 2004
Gallardo Spyder around £85k, 2007

I reckon this could be my last 'silly' car for a while, I feel need to be a bit more sensible fairly soon, but reckon I should go out with a bang (so to speak, I don't want to blow it up).

I've got a vantage roadster right now, which is a good car, but lacking a little bit of that something special.

The 360 is obviously the less attractive of the 3, but the cheapest as well, and the least likely to depr****ate (dirty word around here, sorry).

I'm looking for a combination of excitement, speed, cost/value, and a smidgeon of practicality (like getting over speedbumps and being able to park in some places)

What do you think?

if you can afford it def 430 over 360. ground clearance is ok apart from some longer speed humps. gallardo can have lifting gear specced.

Got to be the Gallardo, most (if not all) have the lifting gear, may be the most expensive, but it is the best smile

I went from AMV8 to Gallardo Spyder... WORLDS apart, you will be shocked what you have been missing out on all this time.

Go and drive all the cars, and then decide. Gallardo is going to hold its money best over Ferrari IMHO (It did for me) but they are also harder to find/buy a good one... 07 Spyder for £85k you will be lucky, sold mine privately for more and in the worse weather than we have now.

If so good can I ask why you sold it?

Sure, I want to keep progressing to the next level, other cars have lasted 3 months, some 6, the Gallardo Spyder was with me for 13 months which is a long time for me!

I did have a moment of craziness where I tried to go back to an AM, but after multiple test drives I couldn't do it.

So if you do get something Italian, you will find it hard to go back to something lesser I promise you...!

I bought an 08 Gallardo Spyder and sold it after 3 weeks. I'd say from that list go for the 430 if you can live with the sound it makes (which I couldn't). Just be aware the G Spyder has practically no luggage space, very little passenger legroom, heavy numb steering, a ridiculous turning circle, truck drivers wont see you, and it draws unbelievable attention. On the positive side, it sounds amazing. An Audi R8 V10 deals with a few of these issues... Worth considering if budget stretches there

Had an R8...again a little lacking in the raw feel stakes...a little something was missing, it was a little cold and uninteresting for me

I had the same decision to make recently (substitute AMV8 for the 360). Having driven the G then the 430, it was an easy choice. Drive them, and see which one you like best. I was most surprised, and bought the 430. Horses for courses smile

sorry to add my two pence worth has to be gallardo. my older cousin had a the gallardo spyder then R8 V8 and then lp560 still has the r8 mind you.

but the spyder was just so RAW and was so epic the noise was immense. would defo reccomend it over any of the list.

I thought passenger side was quite roomy. its just an epic car one you would enjoy, mind you the driving experiance can be quite intense as full concentration is needed to control the bull.

i havent ever been in a ferrari but also thought they are so computer refined there isnt any chance to let loose ( just my opinion and alot of reviews ive read)

scuderia is a diff story though smile

Dont agree with any of this (apart maybe regarding truck drivers!). I drove around Europe for 2 weeks in G Spyder so luggage space, although small, is manageable. If you want something to go to Tescos in buy a Range Rover! Legroom really is not an issue. I am 6'4" and manage fine. The steering maybe heavy as 4WD but I would not say numb. Turning circle is same as most cars of this ilk. Try turning around in a Noble!! The attention thing is because it looks and sounds so bloody good so you can't have it both ways!! Go for the G Spyder you wont regret it especially if this is your last "silly" car.

For no other reason, if this is your last silly car, it has to end with the Raging Bull doesn't it?

This is not through experience.....purely emotional!

If I have my sensible hat on: if you've never owned an Fcar before, I'd go for a manual 360. Still v fast and you can save some cash while still having a fantastic Ferrari experience. There's not really any need to spend the extra cash on a 430 unless you're upgrading from another Ferrari

On the flip side, if you can afford £85k, then maybe say bks to it and get the Lambo. If you want to go out with a bang and something flash and fancy, you can't go much louder smile

thats what i found with mone- awful steering, bad turning circle, and the most unreliable car I have ever owned,

Although there are some posters that maintain tey made a profit- due to buying times i suspect- hold onto your hat for depreciation.
