I'm getting along great with my new (to me) 430 and I'm just wandering what the right method of gear change was when you are lets say "making progress".
I've been told by some to lift off slighty as gears are changed and by others to stay on it as it were. Its just that "staying on it" doesn't seem to be the smoothest option.

Cheers

Hi Steve

If you are driving "fast" then do not lift off, it should throw you in your seat on changes, but is the fastest method and what the car is designed to cope with.

Obviously a very slight lift is much smoother and probably a lot better for your clutch.

Some people like being kicked back into their seat, and others like to drive smoothly. I actually prefer to drive smoothly and its ever such a slight lift that I don't think its any "slower".

Christ I'll have got the car out, made the hedge good again plus given it a trim by the time you catch up ..... still going along like a bucking bronco with that gear change wink
