Hello

Firstly apologies if this has been covered in a previous thread, if so it would be much appreciated if you could point me in the right direction.

It's time for a change and I want a 360 which I know will be the first of many. My thing is the everyday aspect, people comment that they can be used (and do) everyday but is this actually realistic? I will be driving to work everyday which is about 4 miles away and the odd trip into London. Obviously it will be used aswell at the weekend.

Is this viable? Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Nick

Buy the 360 & save it for the weekends - 4 miles is completely viable to walk to work

Car will barely have time to warm up, so not a great idea IMO...
Bike in the week... Ferrari at weekends... Perfect...

4 miles isn't anywhere near enough to get the car warmed up properly. If you wanted to drive a 360 to work you'd be better off taking a longer route or use a different car in the week (like most owners).

I had a 360 for 4months and 10kmiles - everyday usability no problem: I live in Central London and the car was parked outside the house every day, went to work in the City and all its potholes each day! Not 1 single problem.

We searched intensively for a 4wks with my car guy, saw several ones and ended up buying a 2owner car with low mileage but regular mileage.

The only reason I sold: needed a car which could also take "track beating" and I didn't feel the 360 was up for it - looked for a CS, missed a nice blue one with medium mileage and rightly priced...and went back to Porsche instead (ended up w/ 1/4 RHD white 997.1RS produced)

In truth the only minor problem I had was the passenger door hatch giving up on us before going on a european trip...so we didn't lock the car for 4wks!!! Thank god no one knew!
It's a common fault which every 360 suffers from, has and will: the door handle cable mechanism is just fragile.

Do it, or you'll always regret and wonder how it feels

Note: the other downside for me was the attraction I got from it - a little too much, and even working as a city boy and amongst my peers at the bank I could feel jealousy (I got spotted while parking the car in the works car park, even though I'd always take it to the lowest floor to avoid bumping into someone I worked with or knew)

Driving a 360 all the time is not a problem for the car.

Doing a 4 mile commute in it though won't be that great.
As has been said it needs time to warm up and 4 miles won't really do it.

but in terms of useability the 360 is great and it's an event every time you drive it.

enjoy!

WHUFC, come on you Irons!

I'm a season ticket holder there but we won't get dragged down with that subject (pardon the pun)

360's are fantastic cars. They can be used every day no doubt about it.

Dont know how far, but SW7 to the City via the Banks every morning/evening and the car didn't suffer at all...it was warm by the time i reached Buckingham and that's no where close to 4miles.
Just be good and gentle on clutch, and you'll be more than fine. Get the oils changed every 5kmiles ( or 6 months), its super cheap, 1hr labor and well worth.

I've owned my 360 for four years without this problem.

Gents

Thank you very much for the responses. The journey to work has been the worry for me and the reason why I just haven't bought a 360 or 430 already. I think I am going to have to stay with the German marque and am taking a 997 GT3 out next week.

As for the mighty Hammers our fate is depends on other results., exactly like last time we were in this situation and we know what happened then...

The 430 warms up a lot quicker than the 360 and a easy drive when you want it to be.
Give it a go, you'll be surprised.

I used my 355 to commute through London every day. generally not a problem, car warms up pretty quickly, controls are very light, good visibility and imo not more difficult or taxing to drive than the BMW I had before.

I'm going to disagree with you slightly on that (only a little though smile!) : a 355 is never going to be as easy to daily grind/commute in as a BMW. Simple things like monitoring the temps/oil pressure etc (we ALL do it in Fcars, let's be honest, even if 99.9% of the time it's unnecessary!), heavier clutch, heavier gear change and the like add "work" (in the older Fcars at least). BUT, at the end of the day, would I rather be sat in my 355 listening to its idling V8 exhaust note rather than being in a generic rep-mobile listening to radio 2? Totally, every day of the week and twice on Sunday. EVERY journey in my 355 (including tinned goods runs to Asda once a month!) has been an experience, while they're designed for thrashing round a track, they still give me the buzz in mundane situations, and that's why I adore mine biggrin Happy days! Next time you're in a jam in yours, just look at the miserable sod next to you in the Audi envying you and you'll understand exactly what I'm on about if you don't already smile
