Supercar Family Funday Update

Less than a week to go until the event and even more fun attractions have been confirmed

These days we seem to be filling your diary with must-attend meets and shows, and this weekend offers up an entire two days of PH goodness, what with with the Sunday Service and this, the Supercar Family Funday, taking place on Saturday.

If you aren't sure what this day is all about, please refer to the previous story we ran a few months ago.

Held at Dunsfold, home of the Top Gear test track, there will be more than 100 supercars lapping the circuit giving passenger rides in addition to a range of other petrolhead-inspired activities.

In addition to the attractions mentioned in the previous article the organisers have now confirmed the following:

Farnborough and District Motor Club will host an Autosolo course at the end of the main runway with the cones laid out in a tight and technical course so you can find out just how good a driver you are and how well your car handles.

Charged at only £10 for three runs (to try and set a time as close to that set at the start of the day by one of the experts - not the quickest time, but the closest one) - Tickets for this will be sold on the day on a first come, first served basis.

In addition to the helicopter rides already on offer, there is now also a hovercraft to add to the fun. As per usual, tickets will be available on the day on a first come, first served basis.

Five live bands will be there on the day, including members of the Ronnie Scott's All Stars, who will be playing on the Ace Cafe stage, which is providing music throughout the day.

There are still a few supercar ride tickets left (in addition to some Caterham experiences, too) but they are selling exceptionally quickly so please make sure you book in advance if you want to take advantage of the cars on offer.

If you want to take advantage of the special PH discount you will need to book the special car club display tickets. These tickets will be taken offline on Wednesday (tomorrow) so if you want to take advantage of the discount you will need to buy them quickly as they will NOT be available on the day. However, you can still buy tickets on the day at £8 per person for entry rather than discounted offer of £7 for the car and all passengers.

If you do buy a display ticket, you'll note that it states you need to be there by 8.30am. Fortunately, as we have a separate area for PHers, you can arrive whenever you wish, but with all this going on why would you want to be late?

I'd dearly love to take my 6-year old lad to this but coming from Nottingham it's just a non-starter unfortunately. Possibly a similar event at a more central location in the future?

Really annoying because this is the day before I start my exams at uni! Would have loved to come and I'm sure it will be a great day out!

There are 3 parking areas...

the static display area for car clubs which is on the main runway near the event arena (must be in place by 8.30am)

the PistonHeads car park which is between to the young driver training area and the Autosolo course (can arrive and leave at anytime)

and finally the public car park which is further away (can arrive and leave at anytime but do not get the benefit of the PH £7 per car deal)

There are people coming from Germany, France and Scotland for this event as it's one of the highlights of the year, plus a large group coming from Yorkshire too.

In terms of moving the event up north, it's all about finding a suitable venue that has the track option and the space and planning to allow us to do what we need and which won't demand a huge fee (as it's a charity event)

Dunsfold have been very helpful to us over the last 3 years, it is tough to find venues who owners are as helpful, although we're open to offers to replicate this

Can I just confirm one thing please (may be being a bit dull but please bare with me - not used to having to work 5 days in row!).

I have booked a Car Club Display ticket but I'll need to be leaving a little early (small kids!) which car park will I need to be in?

We ordered our tickets a while back (along with the £25 passenger ride ones) but we've not received the tickets yet. Are we supposed to get them via email or in the post? I cannot remember what happened last year and hence this post so sorry if it's been stated somewhere else.

Also, would the tickets confirm what time the passenger ride slots are as I cannot remember which half hour window we booked ourselves in for?

best to park in the PistonHeads Car park, there will be signs and people to direct you there on the day, just state you're a PH'er

The tickets would have been sent in your confirmation email and yes i believe they do have the time slot printed on them (not 100% sure but i think they are)

Great day even the weather held. The event has really come on from a few years back - much more to do now. My five year old was beaming after he got to ride in a Ferrari 360 Spider - his highlight of the day! A great day out for £7 well done Pistonheads.
