Wilton House - The Cars

Join us at the PistonHeads-sponsored Wilton House Supercars: 14/08/11

A few weeks ago we proudly announced that PistonHeads is to sponsor this year's Wilton House supercar event.

Naturally, we are still very excited about this, but for those attending it's all about the cars, and organiser of the car side of things, Jay Broom, has started to announce some of the cars you can expect to see there.

For those that don't know what Wilton House is, take a look here and make sure you keep 14th August free so you can head to Salisbury to witness the entire spectacle. And to incentivise you still further, you can even park in a dedicated PH parking area.

Jay tells us that the assembled supercars will truly be something to behold, with confirmed cars including a Jaguar XJ220, Lamborghini Miura, Bugatti EB110 and Veyron as well as newer metal such as the McLaren MP4-12C, Zonda S and Ferrari 599 GTO (dribbling yet?).

At Wilton you don't just get to see the cars lined up in a row, you also get to see them arrive and 150 cars noisily making their way up the driveway of a stately home is a site to behold. Once in situ the cars will form a static display, but to keep things aurally exciting there will be a 'rev-off' taking place at 14.30 where the owners will all rev their engines, with the noisiest winning a prize from Wilton House owner Will Pembroke.

In addition to the cars there will be the chance to browse plenty of trade stands and exhibits, view classic car displays and have a look at some new cars on show from local dealers and manufacturers...you'll even be able to buy a PH T-shirt...

Tickets are available to purchase here at the very reasonable price of £10

If you want to claim your spot in the PH car park, make sure you add your name to the calendar here:

We really look forward to seeing you there.

Really? Prize for the noisiest? Interesting criteria for winning a prize. Hopefully some scrote ina Saxo with 8 cans will turn up and blow the others away.....

Cant help but think this is stupidly (and not cool at all) childish.

You obviously havnt been before. A saxo will never win, whatever exhaust. I liked the Koinigsegg and the viper best for noise last year.

It's a great crowd pleaser. All of the best supercars revving for the guests is an amazing spectacle and not at all chavvy thanks to the setting and the owners.

I agree somewhat on the 'loudest noise' competition, a bit of a crude indicator. Perhaps 'best noise' would be have more finesse, some of the slightly less loud cars are more aurally appealing.

We could of course measure it by the number of children it made cry.

The PH carpark list is already starting to look more exciting than the actual supercars! (although obviously they'll be some great stuff there as well).

Been the last two years but now live a long way away so may not make it frown But we'll see, would love to see an EB110.

Having organised a huge convoy to the first Wilton House I am gutted to have to miss this years event as it clashes with a big tarmac rally I've entered (as it did last year frown)

Enjoy a great event smile

Garlick, are PH doing a downloadable "note" for us to stick in w/screens at arrival, to assist with directing to the correct car park? BF

I reckon the 'loudest wins' competition is great. A real car enthusiasts up-yours to the people who in all their rule making glory won't even let loud cars on racetracks!

Well done Wilton House

Did the Wilton House thing last year. Too much else going on this summer and if you've already done Goodwood and Silverstone Classics it doesn't offer much new metal if any.

bowtie

Don't forget there are also other prizes for Engineering Excellence (won last year by the Pagani Zonda PS), Car of the Show (McLaren F1 GTR) etc as well.

What I found in the first year is that - literally - hundreds of kids were screaming 'REV IT' as we paraded round the courtyard and gardens. I'm happy to oblige. And this year there's talk of an Enzo coming that will be specifically tuned and modified to take the loudest car prize. And (to the chap who mentioned the Saxo) only the supercars are eligible, so there won't be any bean cans in the running.

Now, please check this video for a teaser - Koenigsegg, Pagani and Ferrari render my gob useless

hehe

That is exactly the reason why Pistonheads is such a great partner to the event (and a great website wink). I started out in cars by organising local runs, where we had everything from Koenigseggs and Diablo GTs to Clio V6s, 911s, TVRs and even the odd MX5, and the big leveller is that everyone is a petrolhead.

That's what makes Wilton different - it's not a big budget event, we're not slaves to manufacturers and advertising. Lord Pembroke and I are 100% hands on. The cars on display are privately owned by people who appreciate them and the privilege of owning them so much that they're happy to get up at 4.30 in the morning to share them - at their own cost - with thousands of other like-minded people. And for charity as well.

We consider the PH area to be an attraction at Wilton in its own right, because there's such a great variety of kit that comes along. I - and no doubt Lord Pembroke - will be over there at some point to have a good look around; fortunately doing so much with the stratospheric supercars hasn't knocked our enthusiasm for other interesting kit, and that'll always be the way.

I'm really looking forward to this. Even the rubbish weather in the morning last year couldn't ruin an excellent day.
