Race team facility tour & South Downs Sunset convoy
Discussion
Ok everyone, having done this today, along with an epic spirited drive to the beach, via some of the great roads in Kent and Sussex. Who would be up for making this a bit of a event next Sunday? The route includes stopping in Rye for tea, coffee and cake, then carry on to Beachy head for the sunset at 7pm.
Meet at Maidstone services at 2pm.
After sunset there is a lovely pub not far from Beachy head if people are hungry. Then there are a couple of decent routes back if people want to return home in convoy too.
Further edit- Sumo Power have very kindly agreed to show us all around their impressive facility in Rye. They have a machine shop, spray shop, super advanced rolling road, in house GT1 and rally team and a workshop that has to be seen to be believed.
Highlight of the tour will be a demo of their rolling road using the JRM Nissan GTR road car, which is currently running 700 horsepower. They tell me it is a sight and sound that people wont forget in a hurry! There will also be a GT1 race car, and the GT1 teams trucks to look around.
So, in short:
Meet at Maidstone services 2pm.
Depart 2:30 pm.
Convoy along some of Kents finest roads to arrive at Sumo Power for 3:30pm (tea/photo stop on route).
Tour of Sumo Power.
Leave for South Downs at 5pm via some of the finest roads in Sussex (food/photo stop on route).
Watch the sunset at 7pm.
After sunset grab a bite to eat in a fine English pub or depart for home.
Food and photo stops are available along the way, all depending on what everyone wants to do.
If people intend to come from the South coast etc, please add your name to the list and we can arrange a meet point near to Sumo Power.

Great idea in theory chap but there seems to be a choice of Runs for the following day with it being a Bank Holiday monday........... and i've already commited to one and can't justify two days on the trot with fuel costs etc
Well done on taking the initiative though and hope you get some folks to join you

Cheers Julian. I went for an afternoon run for all the poor soulss that would like a lay in
Also, the tour of the race team(which wasn't there when you posted) is worth the fuel cost alone.
Only just twigged who you are

Due to various date clashes, and the late notice of this event(my fault!), we have decided to postpone it until later in the year. Possibly making it just a 'Run to a race team' meet.
I will start a new thread when I have a confirmed date.
Sounds really cool mate.. I'll keep my eye on this..I will start a new thread when I have a confirmed date.
Cheers all.
I'm currently working on a suitable date with them at the moment- they are hoping to have their new race car there for the meet, but the logistics of it being there and not away testing or racing are proving tricky. At the moment mid-October looks likely. It is an impressive facility, with plenty to keep us all entertained.
Personally I am looking forward to the demo rolling road run of their 700 horsepower Nissan GTR road car- it's just been mapped on race fuel!
Keep an eye out for the new thread, with a teaser photo...
