Hey guys,
I know its a common topic on here but me and the missus are planning a trip over Europe. I was just wondering what key places and routes you guys recommend?

I want to take in:

Alpine roads
Munich
Stuttgart
Nurburgring (it would be rude not to!)

I also need to visit girl friendly places!

Slovenia/Slovakia for pretty girls!

Driving/visiting wise, Nice is a great place to visit, very lively and just down the road from Monaco, Stelvio is worth a visit, but I went over loads of great alpine passes and they were all pretty good.

We stayed in jesolo, Italy for one night, it wasn't the greatest place but had an amazing sandy beach, can imagine along that coast line there would be some lovely places to stay for a day or two of relaxation. Interlaken is a great stop too along that sort of way, so many great places in Europe to be honest, that if you pick a duffer you will pick 10 great places to go to.

Can do the famous motorsport venues as well, such as Spa, Ring, Reims etc etc for some good photo opportunities, and to soak up the history of the cars/

How long are you going for? I wouldn't do more than 200 miles per day maximum on the autoroutes as this gives you most of the day sightseeing, over the alps much less, especially in the winter.
Our trip was 14 days, 2500 miles, started in North Spain, Millau Viaduct, Med coast, Monaco, Lake Geneva and home. Was brilliant! I've got some great places to stay depending on your route if you want some ideas, all had secure parking.

Quick pic....

We went as it's the best time for my work, also the weather in the med is really nice and the mountains are awesome in the snow. Nice thing too is the main alpine routes are cleared so you can do sun, sea, the beach, snowy mountains, snowboarding etc all in one trip, it also made our trip a bit more of an adventure, you'd really not ever really know what the next day would turn up. It was mid December when we went.

I did the Gardena Pass (Italian Dolomites) in February, the sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky. I also did it in July on the Cannonball run Europe, another Sunny day:

Video of the Summer Trip:

Both trips were amazing, however, the winter trip had clear roads and snow covered mountains which made the drive memorable!

It wasn't bad, a bit skippy out of the hairpins, my girlfriend didn't like them too much hehe As you can see in the pic the roads were pretty clear, this was taken soon after the Great St Bernard Pass into Switzerland, so quite high up in the Alps.

What an awersome drive that must have been!

Its amazing how they can managed to clear the roads to that level up a mountain....yet they couldnt make the main roads round Ash Vale safe and useable in the last snow we had!

My babies stay tucked up in the garage over winter....yep I am a summer/dry driving queen! smile

If you are going through the various spots you mention in Germany and then on to the Alps, best bet is to go from the Alpine passes (Stelvio, etc - there are actually many passes better than the Stelvio nearby) onto Lake Maggorie (beautiful and wife friendly !), then you can take the coast (ish) route towards Monaco, do the Col de Turini near Monaco, do as much or as little as you want of the Italian/French coast (Monaco, Nice, Cannes, etc) then take Route Napoleon on the trip North through France and back to Calais

Here is the book put together on our tour in July this year http://www.blurb.com/books/2469726

I'm doing the same thing next weekend (starting 2nd), going to the Ring and onto Spa. Happy days. About to do a bit of research on other places to visit along the way, will post anything interesting.
