Hi Guys.

Im thinking of putting together a bit of a fortnightly meet in the east mids, mid-week, as there is really nothing to do in the area on a regular basis, especially going into autumn.

Im thinking a general PH / interesting cars meet on a week night, maybe tues/weds/thurs.

The area I am proposing is around Donington Park area, lots of easy motorway access and lots of nice country lanes too.
There are a few locations that I have in mind, but would like to hear your thoughts, be it a village green, a pub, or Donington park itself.
I don't want to make anything out of this, its not a business venture, although there is scope for a charitable cause.

Interesting that you've posted this as I was wondering about contacting Donington and proposing a monthly "Donington Breakfast Club" because Goodwood is a bit of a trek from Northampton :-)

Obviously the weather / light is turning against us but I'm definitely up for helping to get some sort of regular meet organised for us East Midlanders.

Great idea....I have been travelling to the Midlands Breakfast Club at Cosford in the past from nr Lichfield though it was getting oversubscribed. Coxy, who organises the MBC is relinquishing his organisers role shortly due to other commitments. I would happily support your idea & several others would too. yes

Im not really sure yet wether it would be best on a weekday evening, breakfast, or weekend daytime.

given that the light is fading quite quickly now, i would probably say a sunday lunch/afternoon meet would be best.

I have some good links with donington park so will make some enquiries asap. although they do have a LOT of events running on their main car park at the weekends so that may not be the best place.

Another option is a local village called "Breedon on the hill" about 2 miles away, (yes i lived there for 25 years...!!) Nice big flat village green + decent pub (the Holly Bush)
Only down side i see with that is making SURE that people dont damage the grass....

I'm up for the weekend meet.

Donington Park would be good or a transport cafe like the Saltbox Cafe near Hatton.

Cars on grass going into this time of year are going to damage the grass. If you don't want the grass damaged dont park cars on it. Sundays probably better than weekdays for a regular meet that peeps can attend, due to work committments.

If you hadn't noticed, there are such meets already in Derby, every other Tuesday, with anything up to two dozen PH'ers turning up regularly.

See the sticky at the top of the Midlands forum.

A Donington breakfast type meet on a Sunday is a good call though.

Derby is starting to get a bit of a trek for us "southern" east midlanders. Would be nice to have something closer to Northamptonshire. Also the existing "Midlands" breakfast club sounds pretty over subscribed already, there's plenty of scope for another event.

A Donny breakfast club would definitely get my vote. I have a friend who deals with Donington reasonably regularly I can make enquiries there if Darkcat draws a blank.

Yup, I can understand and appreciate that. But as darkcat appears to be in Derby, and we ain't never seen him, I thought it was worth a mention smile
