An Alternative to the Laon Historique?
Discussion
Good Afternoon All, and Happy New Year!
I have done Laon the past 3 years and, whilst in many ways a great event, I feel that, for many reasons (not least the 1000+ cars, and hotel issues), it has outgrown itself.
As a result, I am looking for suggestions for a nothern France-based event similar to the Laon Historique.
To narrow it down, the requirement is for a non-competitive (or marginally competitive) event, starting/finishing within about 2-4 hours of Boulogne/Calais/Dunkerque, that accept entries such as MX5s, 80s Yanks and Ginettas, and newish Lotuses (Loti? - what is the proper plural of Lotus), and that will provide the opportunity of seeing a wide range of interesting cars (just what Laon used to be...) and using some of the lovely rural roads that France has to offer. Could also be Belgium or Luxembourg.
Does anyone have another event to suggest?

Well I never, its a thread on the same page as this one :-) Different town this year by the looks of it, but same organisers. Was 150 cars last year and you got to exercise the cars quite well.

Paul, I did the Charente last year, really good rally but only worth doing if you're going to take in the whole weekend racing etc. Don't know about the age limit though as I did it in the Aston.
There were lots of post 75 cars taking part.

I also do this one every year http://poitierselegance.free.fr/
Very French (red wine at signing on in the morning), very laid back, loads of different cars and probably only about half a dozen Brits. I hope posting this doesn't make it too popular.
PM me if you want any more details

Hi
Thanks for the info - it sounds like a great weekend.
I note from their website that "registration for this year's event is closed".
Interesting that you mention post-75 cars on last year's event, as their regs clearly state pre-75s. I suspect that they (in common with other organisers) accept "cars of interest" which don't meet the requirement.
If I need more info, I will certainly PM you.
