I have managed to blag some tickets to the Silverstone classic this year. Is it like the Goodwood revival where the Sunday is the best day to go? Should we be doing the Saturday if not?

Any help is much appreciated...

I have been for the last 2 years running and prefer the Saturday. It is busier than the Friday so you may prefer that if you can get the time off work.

Saturday is better than Sunday as the show runs all day long and then into the late evening with the bands that come on around 6pm-ish

Be aware of potential for enormous traffic jams on the Saturday, much less prevelant on the Sunday. Either day you'll have a great time!

Saturday sounds good then - are these traffic jams in the morning, afternoon or both? If we left around 7pm would we be ok?

Saturday morning traffic jams were chronic last year. I was heading SW from the M1 and my dad SE from the M40. We each spent at least 2 hours in jams on the A43. The evening was fine and Sunday morning also OK. I will be keenly avoiding Saturday morning in future, though the Saturday evening race is usually one of the highlights of the weekend.

Last year, I arrived about 12:30 on the Saturday and pretty much drove straight in.

The organisers of the Silverstone Classic have promised to sort out the queues that happened on Saturday last year - mainly caused by the 1000 E-types rolling up to mark the car's 50th birthday. Saturday is the best day with loads of races plus free live music in the evening... if Mike and the Mechanics floats your boat. Sunday, though, will see a record number of Ferrari F40s (54 currently) on display to mark the supercar's 25th anniversary. You can always stay over as camping is available. And buy your tickets before the end of this month to save money....

Friday's the best day to look at the race cars, Saturday's the best day for watching racing as the races start at 9 am and finish at 9pm and Sunday's the best for looking at the club cars.

Once again I'm going for all three. biggrin

Excellent, I guess you're taking the Stratos? I'll try to say hello this year.

That's the plan. Or, I may slum it with the Maserati Owners Club this year.

yes Saturday last year spent 2 hours in a jam from 10am, ironically driving in for the GP on race morning at 10am only had to wait 20 minutes! eek

I'm putting serious thought into going to this for the whole weekend, so will be camping if i do. I've not paid much attention to it before but looking into it, it's quite a big deal isn't it?!

The only time I went to the GP at Silverstone we drove straight in as well. They made a massive mess of the LMS a couple of years ago too - totally underestimated demand when Peugeot and Audi gave away free tickets. You live and learn...

Anyway, just got media accreditation sorted today so all good to go for Saturday and Sunday. Looking forward to it!

Do you think this can be used for general admission as when you enter the code it states something about vehicle pass/registration matching but surely this only for entering the actual circuit - not for general admission and camping?

Cheers,
Geoff.
