I recall Tony mentionned the idea of heading up to the pod RWYB session on 22/8 after our recent trip to Thorney Island. The idea was met with silence.

What do you guys reckon? I'm game...

If you're up for a support vehicle tagging along somewhere behind then I've been promising Demon Spawn a day at the pod!

Edited to add : be nice to get some more practice in with a rather tasty lens I've been loaned for the EOS 300D too!

Yep still interested, if your still speaking to me If we get enough interest i think we have 4 so far we could enquire about it being TVR/PH exclusive? lets see how many other takers we get, may be Craig could make it an TVR event so people with the relevant insurance could be covered.

Tony, you should know by now anything I say on Ph is usually a wind up you know I still love you, and my mum

yep, if we cant get a hants region then how about a PH day at the pod, or at TVRCC day so we can get the insurance cover... see how many respond to this thread I guess.

I'll dig out the 'leccy cool box for the cans of drink then. :-D

(There has to be some advantage to driving a tank.)

Anyone want anything other than Diet Coke?

well I originally started the thread to see whether the Hants region fancied going along. However, in view of the poor take up we may have to open it up to others. Personally I would have liked to have made it a TVRCC event. Not for keeping it exclusive to TVR, in fact it makes a better day to pitch TVRs against other cars such as the MR2T, the tricked up golf, cavalier etc. Problem being that if its not a TVRCC day the track day insurance will not cover it and we are left uninsured on the strip. Whilst accidents are rare in a straight line, they have been known.

I will see what the interest is on behalf of the TVRCC and if its insufficient (as its looking at the moment) then I suggest we make it a PH day at the Pod. So stick the date in your diaries. Apologies for the uncertainty at the moment - its not a TVRs are only allowed suggestion, just purely an effort to get insurance cover for many of those who would be going.

watch this space - I will go to the evening meeting of the TVRCC next month on the 1st Thursday and if the take up there is insufficient I will post on here to advise on times etc. Its a RWYB event in any event so of course you can just turn up on the day and "find" us lot there

For drag racing I would have thought that insurance is not such a big issue, having been to 'pod many times and have never seen anything more than people making their engines go bang when things go wrong.

If people can't drive in a straight line, they shouldn't really be allowed on the road....

if you feel like organising it and taking responsibility if someone smashes their £40k pride and joy up be my guest......

Its rare, but I have seen it happen. And whilst they "shouldnt really be allowed on the road" I am doubtful that the bloke whose steering broke and smashed into the side wall may agree. There was a fair amount of fish tailing going on at Thorney Island the other week and, whilst I would like to think we all were able to control such occurence on a road situation, its funny how the red mist can effect peoples judgement and driving style on a track. I know it turns me into Taz...

If we can get insurance then great. If not, YOU must take the risk...

I appreciate your sentiments Drakkon, but I'm sure you agree that if we can get insurance then it would be advantageous and may also mean some of the more apprehensive (or those with the more expensive cars ) may come along whereas otherwise they wouldnt...

Competition Car Insurance arranges insurance for all sorts. From Trackdays to rallying.
Im sure they could help.

I just got cover from them for a trackday. Quick and simple to setup. Cant comment on what a claim is like though (thankfully!).

good point. If we dont go under the umbrella of the TVRCC then the individual can arrange cover if they want to. As Drakkon said, accidents at the pod are few and far between so the risk is minimal, BUT if you want to be covered the option is yours...

Normal track day cover is very unlikely to work since its a timed run.

But you wont need it anyway.
Im sure you have driven faster on a public road (in Germany of course).

Its only a straight bit of smooth road!
