Monaco Grand Historique 11-13 May
Discussion
Since we are holiday in Italy around that time we fancy going this.
It will probably be race day (13th).
Does anyone have any suggestions for parking/travel if coming in from the Italian side - maybe park up a few miles away and train in?
Presumably book tickets on-line or is there non-paying public access?
Thanks, Pewe.

Better off coming in by train, especially if you are arriving on the race days. You can buy grandstand tickets from kiosks on the day very easily, except for the best ones, ie, Casino square, which are sold out. You won't get to view anything without a grandstand ticket. But for 35euro on the day, they are cheap. Its well worth going....
Thanks for the replies.
We're planning to leave Tues, wend our way down and stay just over the border in Italy (did I say my Italian's way better than my French?) on Thursday taking in practise on Friday. However if SWMBO likes it we may well be back over the weekend!
Drove down to Swansea today and had a new soft-top fitted at Jack Smith Trimmers so now all we need is some nice sunny weather.
Cheers, Pewe.

If you're a biker there's an event called Motoshow at Autodromo Ricardo Paletti near Parma next weekend (it's Dallara's home track).
The event features demo runs by all types/sorts of racing bikes.
The likes of Agostini, Sammy Miller, Chas Mortimer and others turn out - and it's free!
Then in Sept the GP Nuvolari passes through RC.
Much like the Mille Miglia with a wealth of historic cars - the Fiat/Alfa Museum fielding their running exhibits, Bugs and quite a few British historics.
Follow them across Passo della Cisa for a mind-blowing taste of historic rallying - highly recommended.
Cheers, Pewe.

We actually went on the Friday. They were running F3 and 60's/70's F1s so not quite as exciting as Sat practise or Sunday's main event but since I'd done a bit of spannering in that era it was all relevant.
The other bonus was it was all free, repeat free and access all areas bar the pit-lane when practise started.
We walked the whole course including the tunnel and were able to chat to entrants and mechanics alike as the atmosphere was so relaxed.
We stayed in Ventimiglia which has a half-hour train service directly into Monaco central.
Totally enjoyable but don't forget your ear-plugs.
Cheers, Pewe.
PS the drive down and back was such a blast as we did passes rather than motorways and tunnels!
