Yeah I have done it before. Good event. Cars are good / OK - nothing exotic. It really depends on who else is in your group. Sometimes you get weekend warriors who talk about about cars and it can become tiresome. It didn't happen to me, but others have comments on this.
The website currently lists an LP560 Gallardo Spyder, amongst others. How quaint of me to think that exotic! So I went to the event last week and it was great fun.
I drove the cars below in order:-
To answer your previous question regarding the deposit. If paying by debit card you needed to leave a £3.5k deposit but if credit card then they didn't need to actually take the cash unless there was a problem.
Let me know if you've any other questions.

Dying to know now what the winners and losers were
Ok. So here is a really brief summary of my impressions of driving all the cars in ascending order of how much I want one (primarily based on the driving experience not just looks or performance etc. and it was a reasonably wet day). Don't get me wrong these are all great cars but some just greater than others in my opinion. Owners please don't flame me!
- XKRS - I thought this would be a more raw steer but it felt very heavy and luxurious with a fully automatic box. Massive amounts of low speed torque but unfortunately the chassis just couldn't handle it (and me to be honest). Always crashing into the traction control or lighting up the rears. Sounds like it would be fun but I just couldn't press on (it was wet mind). It did sound good though. In summary great engine but just needs to be in something else.
- GTR - This was the most ordinary looking of the bunch but the performance was most definitely not ordinary! It was a weapon and probably the cheapest way of getting into this kind of performance. It could put all the power down with absolute ease and could definitely handle even more. The acceleration was great and quite addictive. Other than a loud whooshing noise when the turbos are all spooled up the engine didn't really sound like much. At least compared to what else I was driving on the day. It was so easy to drive fast that my granny drive it. So for me if you took away the acceleration there was very little else to like. No character for me and I reckon I'd be bored or banned within a few months. In summary awesome performance but little else.
- Gallardo Spider - Proper super car looks and a V10 that sounded great. Driving position felt high within the car and I did remember commenting to my passenger that it drove like an Audi! In summary a great looking and sounding car, good pace but not the greatest drive.
- 997 Turbo - Similar to the GTR but much more driver enjoyment and a more special feeling car to drive. Felt a much nicer place to be and a good steer. A real weapon. Just needs some more engine noise and it could be close to perfect. Although I imagine a GT3 would be better but I haven't driven one. In summary a weapon but just needs a little more noise.
- V12 Vantage - Beautiful car with a beautiful interior. I really, really wanted to love this car. It drove similarly to the XKRS and struggled to handle the engine although the torque was more manageable presumably because it was NA. But what an engine. Really nice power delivery and the noise was to die for. As per the XKRS I struggled to hussle this at pace down the lanes. But the looks, noise and the positive attention you got makes this a great car. Just not necessarily the best steer. To be honest I found the 997 better to drive other than the engine noise but the Aston just has massive character.
- F430 Spider - I thought that this would be a posers car with a noisy engine. To be honest it was but boy was it great to drive. It felt to me like driving an elise but with some (ok lots) more performance and a beautiful sounding engine. It really did hide its mass well and it gave me lots of confidence but in a way that I felt that I was actually driving it. Not sure if that makes sense but the Gallardo and GTR could drive themselves and the XKRS and Aston couldn't handle the power but the F430 felt somewhere in the middle with what felt like the almost perfect balance between handling and performance and gave you loads of confidence and enjoyment as a driver. Having not been a red car fan I actually came away from the experience really loving this car and wonder just how good the 458 could be if its really the step on that the press write. In summary I want one but can't afford one! So the only real dream car of the day for me.
