Hi all,
I've seen plenty of road trip stories on Pistonheads in the past, which in part have inspired me for our current "trip of a lifetime" (that's what I am terming it anyways).....so figured I'd pop some pics etc up of our current European Adventure that my wife and I are currently on.

Being an Aussie living in the UK, and being a petrolhead from way back, the thought of experiencing amazing driving roads and scenery in Europe was something I just had to make reality before moving back to Aust.

I've always loved the Audi R8......so after finally chosing it over the Nissan GTR, & after many many months of searching, we bought one a few months back in preparation for our trip.

We headed off about 5 days ago, and have made our way from the UK down to Menton (just around corner from Monaco), where we're on an easy day today.....before continuing on to Tuscany tomorrow.
We've experienced some amazing roads & scenery so far......including the Loire Valley, the Ardeche region, the Luberon and the Route de Napoleon.

I know a picture tells a thousand words....so I'll keep the text short, and post a few pics from the trip so far.
Hope you enjoy....& hope it helps to inspire you also to get out & live your dreams! smile

All pics below were taken on phone, so not sure of quality.

We're 5 days in to our 18 day trip. smile
Tuscany, Maranello, Lake Garda & Como, Klosters, Interlaken, Black Forest & Champaigne yet to go!

P.S. Having trouble uploading pics from phone....so will try iPad soon.

G.

Great choice of car, great long distance cruiser. Ihide a 5 hour trip home without stopping when I bought mine and if now for my weak bladder could have made it a lot more.
Have a safe trip andi look forward to seeing the pics.

First night accommodation in Nevers, France.

Start of day 2....heading out of the Ardeche Region for the Route de Napoleon.

I love this thread. I've been thinking I want to do something similar and stop in at a few tracks and manufacturers factory's around Europe. I just need an exciting car like an r8 to do it in.
Is that Orlando Murins place you are staying at?

I have to say that the driving roads today were absolutely amazing.....by far and away the best of trip so far. Fantastic!
Endless sweeping turns, rolling hills, almost no traffic for most of day....incredible!! smile

Driving from here in Tuscany up to Maranello tomorrow, on the SS12.....should be more amazing roads and scenery.

No, not Orlando Murrin's place......just a chateau (near selected overnight location of Nevers) I found on booking.com. That site has been a valuable part of all the trip planning.
Each accomm has been great so far....hope it continues!
