I'm off on a little trip to France, Switzerland, and Italy soon and wondered if there's a more enjoyable direction to drive Route Napoleon?

I'll be doing a loop so can do it either north-south or south-north

Can't be much in it but South to North would see the sun behind you and that could make it less tiring!

This, makes it much easier and you'll want good visibility given the overtaking you'll be doing...

For the rest of your loop Route des Cretes in the Vosages and down to Mulhouse for the Schlumph museum. Switzerland so many choices, head to St Moritz and down into Italy that way or take the Grimsel, Furka, Gottard route. Depends which part you are heading for. Great family run hotel in Menzberg Switzerland not far from Luzern. Dead end road but worth going there just for the drive up and back.

I would also recommend the Gorge du Verdon.
Fantastic drive round.

Whatever way you do it, just watch the speedo! Gets very fast VERY quickly in places... I am talking speeds which with have you sleeping with one eye open in a French Jail... :-)

Seriously, to drive the Route Napoleon in its entirety is a joy, has a bit of everything. There is a part which could be a carbon copy of a section of the Col Du Turini and I LOVE the banked turns at the top.

Can I come with you????????????????????????????????????????????????????
