Circuit Days Road Tours?
Discussion
Anyone who's booked on these in the past can you comment on what you thought of it? Knowing what CD's TD's are like I'm sure they are fantastic but I'm just wanted to hear from the horses mouth as such before I book.
Thinking of booking the Riviera trip, which is 3k per car. Did you consider this good value for money, to save the hassel of organising everything yourself, I think would be the main benefit?
Thanks

Have you looked at Petrolhead Nirvana Tours for comparison purposes ?

I did. And they also look very good. Ive heard good feedback in the past.
Price wise they are very similar. 2600 v 3000 (With circuit days you get the UK track day) So taking that into account theres nothing in it.
What attracted me to the CD's trip is the mixture of driving, nice hotels and the chance to see the sights i.e couple of days in Rome and Monaco.
Bearing in mind the misses will be with me and wont be driving, so its a break for both of us. Don't get me wrong she never complains about being driven fast but speaking from experience of the last euro trip I did I think it would have been nice to slow the pace a little and visit places. Rather than 'right wheres the next mountain pass'
....btw its quiet in here have I posted in the wrong section.

No, you've posted in the right section........ but you're right, it is quiet at the moment
If you're in the London area this monday the 12th or any 2nd monday of the month drop by the Ace Cafe and say hello to the Petrolhead Nirvana folks as its their regular monthly meet as per this thread.......even though their name isn't mentioned in the title ?
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
You can ask the PN guys face to face about their tours and talk to plenty of people who have actually done the trips previously........ maybe see you there

Great cars you have by the way

Hiya, got steered this way by one of our customers....
It's not for me to comment on CD tours, that's not my style.
However, if you would like to have a chat about the PhN offering then please feel free to give one of us a shout.
(If you speak to Pete - aka verysideways, be ready for him to ask all about your GT3 RS - he never misses an opportunity to tell me to get one!)
As Jules said if you want to find out more from people who have been on tour with us then come along to the Ace on Monday, we tend to find it's our customers that sell our tours better than we do.

I went with CD on the Riveria trip last summer. It was the first of that type of trip I had been on. Fantastic experience and some great driving roads as you would expect. Two of the hotels that had been named just before the trip were changed, at least one of which seemed like a downgrade to me.Thinking of booking the Riviera trip, which is 3k per car. A good mix of people and the CD team were aways at the hotels to meet you.
The route instructions were just a single sheet. So for example, from the hotel at the start of the route Napoleon to Monaco it just listed a couple of towns on route. That was not an issue to me as I had done a lot of pre work on the cars satnav, but it might have caused some issues if I had not.
The other thing that became clear is that as people drive at different speeds, traffic etc so you do not stay together as a group. It is a case of you set off and meet again at the next hotel. There were some exceptions, but not many. On reflection, that worked for us as I did not feel under pressure to keep up with perhaps people driving faster than I felt comfortable with (getting slower in my old age!)
Having looked at the CD website they have expanded the trip, with more breaks and two nights in Monaco, which is a really good ideal. By the time we got there last year, we had limited time left to have a look around.
Overall they were very good, but right now I have no comparison with other companies offering this type of thing. However the next such trip I would plan myself to tailor to my specific needs.
The memories of driving through the Monte Carlo tunnel in the Aston will live with me forever....why the heck did I sell that car?
Anyway hope that is of some help.

Correct me if i'm wrong but this comment kind of implies that the Circuit Days staff do not actually join you for the driving of the Tour ?I'm not going to criticise CD's ways of doing things when they are not here to defend themselves but i would have to say that if they are not actually on the driving part of the trip this sounds less than ideal to me......... especially given, as you say, that your guidance for the trip is just a sheet of paper

It is true that i've not yet had a full blown Petrolhead Nirvana Tour experience as i've only done their entry level UK Tour so far (bigger plans on my bucket list
) but i do know that with PN the people you pay your money to are on hand the whole way which i would personally find reassuring in the instance of an issue a long way from home
I also know they have fully embraced modern technology and you'll get more than a piece of paper for your cash
......... i'll shut up now as i might start sounding like a salesman for Petrolhead Nirvana which i'm not and besides you'll find everything you need to know on their site and plenty more testimonials than just mine on their Forum

Your wrong, they drive the routes, that is how they get to the next hotel. They just do it quicker than most others to ensure they are there on your arrival, at least they did it quicker than me. You also have their Mobile number if you hit problems.I'm not going to criticise CD's ways of doing things when they are not here to defend themselves but i would have to say that if they are not actually on the driving part of the trip this sounds less than ideal to me......... especially given, as you say, that your guidance for the trip is just a sheet of paper
