Sporting Bears drive hospice children in fleet of Bentley cars to meet their MPs in Parliament.
Tuesday 2nd July 2013 will be a very special day for 10 children from various UK children’s charities & hospices that the Sporting Bears Motor Club have supported recently. 10 Bentley cars, escorted by the Metropolitan Police outriders, through Central London, before finally crossing Westminster Bridge into Parliament to meet their MPs.

Children

Sporting Bears have arranged for 10 children and their parents from hospices all over the UK to travel to London on Monday July 1st and stay as guests with our Hotel Partner, Hilton London Metropole. The 10 families will stay in stylish and spacious rooms, with skyline views across London the night before the event.

Whilst it was a difficult choice for the Sporting Bears to select only 5 out of the many children’s charities they have supported, the even harder task of selecting only 2 children fell to the care teams in each of these selected charities.

Claire House Children’s Hospice – covers NW and based in Wirral - http://www.claire-house.org.uk/
Children’s Trust – covers the UK from Tadworth, Surrey - www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/
Zoe’s Place – Hospices in Middlesbrough, Coventry & Liverpool - http://www.zoes-place.org.uk/

Most children will have serious and some “end of life” conditions, so this experience will be important to share with their parents starting with their stay, ready for the following days excitement, with thanks to Hilton London Metropole.

Sporting Bears Motor Club
Sporting Bears were formed in 1989 to raise money for children’s charities in the UK through their passion for classic and sports cars. They are all volunteers and when they fundraise every penny donated at an event will go to the nominated charities to fulfil their wish list. They have supported over 150 individual children’s charities and raised over £1,000,000 form donations for “Dream Rides” in their cars.
They are supported by Bentley UK at certain events with cars and Patrons John Surtees OBE and Barrie “Whizzo” Williams are well known racing and rally drivers.
Subscriptions for membership pay all their administration and Public Liability cover, maintaining the 100% donation to the charities.
With 500+ members who bring their classic, sports and super cars to events from Scotland to the Isle of Wight, in November 2012 at the NEC Classic Car Show they broke through the £1million barrier.

They also have days at race circuits where families come along in private and be taken out in cars, seeing over 200 children each year go out in sports, classic and even Police cars with flashing lights and sirens. They enjoy these days as it is a closed event just for hospice families including siblings who often miss days out.
