Carfest north 2013

Who went?
We had weekend camping. Although we left on the Sunday afternoon due to work(and the rain).
All in all, very good, well organised, lots to see and do,Texas were fantastic on the Friday night.
I did enjoy the track action, lots of interesting cars, pity about the PA system which seemed insistent on playing crap 'bed' music over the commentary. 'What a fantastic sounding car' ,well I'm sure it is but I can't hear it over black is black by ac/dc.....morons.
Overall it was good, cracking atmosphere. And a good turn out.

Glad you enjoyed it, any pictures?
Went friday as well, great family event but totally crap as a car event CARFEST !! 12am gates open so thats 1/2 the day gone, no access to pit area, car club's what car clubs ? hardly any there, very disappointing as a car event should have been called food fest.
way too expensive, never again.
way too expensive, never again.

I thought it was great. Shame the cars were almost the same on all days though. Chris Evans did suggest they rename it Lads and New Dads Day. A great family event.way too expensive, never again.

We camped Friday and Saturday and had a great time. I agree with other comments on this thread there was some repetition over the weekend, but we thoroughly enjoyed the carfest experience. It was exactly as billed - family focussed with cars being an ingredient of the overall event. And raising money for a worthwhile cause.
Yes, I was there all weekend with one of the Aston 7`s and, overall, it was a great mixed event, with plenty to interest all members of the family, not just the petrolheads. I think the Vulcan was just awesome, and stopped the show.
Only complaint - The event seemed to be run by an "events" type company though, rather than the sort of club organisation that we expect at "normal" car events, so they treated you like an employee, rather than a volunteer who has given his time and vehicle to help them attract the paying public! For instance, at the end of Sunday afternoon, they actually closed and guarded the pit area gate and said "no cars move until 7pm". That went down really well (not!) with everyone who had provided, without payment, some of the shows main attractions, had been there since 8am on Friday and just wanted to go home, not to hang about, pointlessly, for another 2 hours. And no, there wasn`t a Health and Safety argument about moving cars with the public around, because we eventually left the paddock via the pit lane and circuit up to Lodge and out onto the road there.
These are the same people that the organisers will presumably want to return next year. Not the best move then, locking us all in.

To be fair, the pre-amble I received-but-did-not-read did state 19:30 before cars could be moved. Originally it was going to be 18:00 and that was what I was working on when I tried to leave on Friday night (having flown back from the US on the Thursday especially for this). When I was first told no movements until 23:00 I went ballistic. However, the security chaps and marshals were pragmatic.Only complaint - The event seemed to be run by an "events" type company though, rather than the sort of club organisation that we expect at "normal" car events, so they treated you like an employee, rather than a volunteer who has given his time and vehicle to help them attract the paying public! That, and not wanting to risk having 54 Astons stuck in a muddy wet field to push on the Sunday. :-)
