i suspect it's all the exact s record that was broken ... often country specific records can become some what forgotten when the international pressure draws the big money to a specific location ..

I think they're claiming a class record, not outright : https://www.msauk.org/assets/msaspeedrecords.pdf - and looking at the wrong class (and distance).

Yep reads like it's the record for the specific 1 mile strip on Pendine sands. Nice bit of publicity for Bentley but hardly a epic achievement, with a modern car.
