On Your Marks 2015 - Asda Charity Trackday - Bruntingthorpe
Discussion
Hi all - Couldn't see a thread on this year's event running yet so thought I'd get it started
Dad and I plant to be there again the Boxster, and are looking forward to a great day blatting it around the track whilst raising some money to worthy causes.
Anyone else from here going too?
Cheers
Phil

Has anyone sorted out insurance for this day at Bruntingthorpe.
I have a TVR and have been for the last two years, with cover provided by ClassicLines (actually the underwriter as they are a broker) as part of my policy. I assumed it would be the same again this year, but I have been told that as the event is not organised by an ATDO member or by the TVR Car Club, that cover is not provided. ClassicLine have been exceptionally helpful in trying to find a solution that the underwriters will accept, and the best they can come up with is cover with a £53 premium and 10% vehicle value excess.
Does anyone know any specialist track day insurance that is likely to be cheaper than this?

What a fantastic day! The RS6 had a few issues through-out the day like the boost hose popping off twice, propshaft bearing failing and a Porsche Cayenne pushing me off the track into a cone on the straight on my 4th lap (he didn't look he just pulled over as I overtook him on the left down the straight) but I just wanted to apologise to anyone who complained to the marshals after they heard the god-awful grinding my rear brakes were making during the afternoon.
As soon as I heard the noise I took the wheel off and found the issue was the stone-guard had come loose and was resting on the edge of the disc making that racket. At no point was the braking performance effected but it's difficult to tell all 300 other owners this so I fully understand the decision to black flag the car for the other owners piece of mind.
I'd also like to thank the few individuals who came over to ask about the issue as it showed they were looking out for each other.
Anyway, I think I did around 40+ rides and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time so I can't wait for next years!
PS Pic of the offending stone guard, now removed, it's amazing the noise made by that tiny 1cm mark!

I did hear your RS6 come past the TVR gate sounding odd, now I know why, bloody bad luck that!
I got talking to Craig who has a 4 litre Chimaera with the 5 litre supercharger kit fitted & MBE ecu, sounded and went great. Can't remember his PH name though, any help with that appreciated as I said I'd keep in touch with him.

Saw 2 TVR's overheat and one being pushed back to the gate. Our Maserati's really did well and we raised over £3k for the charity.
Guy in front of me in the 340R had a spin in the chicane and went grass cutting. Ran out of talent.

Thought I'd report back from the day too:
We both really enjoyed the day, getting to truly stretch the Boxster's legs (hope we held no-one up!) and raised a not insignificant amount of money for charity
I think that Lotus spinning off may have left some grit/gravel on the chicane, as it was reported back to me that that area of the track had become a bit slippy and I know other drivers went off there.
That aside, it was a great day. The attitude/behavior of other drivers was quite good (one or two aside), and we're already looking forward to next year!
