Rallye Sunseeker 2005 returns to Bournemouth on the south coast of England on Friday 25th February and Saturday 26th February. The opening round of the MSA Gravel Rally Championship will see Britain's top national rally drivers compete for honours over 16 special stages, timed to 1/10 second. These special stages will be run on roads within private estates and on gravel roads in the forests near Ringwood and Wareham.

Also stage through Bournemouth Gardens Friday night.

The basic package is built round three special stages, with full commentary, at the beginning, middle and end of the day.

New car parking arrangements have allowed the organisers to open up an additional spectating area from which to view the stages - parking is just £20 per car. The car park opens at 07.30 hrs, with the stages scheduled to run at 09.21 hrs, 13.49 hrs and 17.07 hrs. While this is a very welcoming venue for families, no dogs are permitted at Somerley or indeed at any of the special stages, so please leave your pets at home.

As always at Motorfair, there is more to see than just the rally cars in action. For the first time, the MG Extreme Rally Tour joins Motorfair, offering an opportunity to take the co-driver's seat in a MG ZR, to experience the thrill of a rally car in action (see panel).

Numerous leading manufacturers will be represented at Motorfair, giving you the opportunity to take a close look at the cars, talk to the experts . . . and even book a test drive.

The trade exhibitors include the stage sponsor, World Wide Timeshare, and the following companies:

+ Bournemouth SEAT

+ Breeze VW

+ Hamworthy Car Centre

+ Motorsport News

+ Olympian Automotive – official vehicle supplier for Rallye Sunseeker, with a range of cars from Fiat, Isuzu, Nissan, Renault and Subaru

+ Poole Car Centre – Mitsubishi

+ Porsche Centre Bournemouth

+ Rally Retail – the latest Rally and F1 team clothing

+ Sunseeker International

Away from the commercial and dealer displays, you can get nostalgic at the displays organised by individual enthusiasts and members of specialist clubs, such as:

+ All Torque Club

+ Club Alpine Renault

+ Club Triumph

+ Dorset All Ford Types Club

+ Dorset Capri Club

+ Dorset Midget & Sprite Club, including Healey 3000s and Frog–Eye Sprites

+ Dorset Land Rover and Range Rover Owners Club, who will also be providing an assistance service in the car park

+ Granada Owners Guild - the estate versions made great rally support vehicles in the 1970s and 80s

+ SAAB Owners Club

+ Three Counties Vintage and Classic Car Club.

If that's not enough, then you can also visit VK Energy - the official drink of Rallye Sunseeker - and Bournemouth Helicopters, where you might fancy booking a trial lesson. Weather permitting, Blue Sky Ballooning will also have on display one of its hot air balloons.

The Leukaemia Research Fund, which benefits from the sale of this official programme, will also be in attendance. This year, Rallye Sunseeker is also supporting the efforts of Verwood Rotary Club and the residents of Verwood in their fund raising efforts for Rotary Clubs in areas devastated by the recent Tsunami. Please take time to visit their stands.

With its three special stages, commentary, catering and toilet facilities, arena displays and of course the rally rides, Rallye Sunseeker Motorfair gives you all of the action and much, much more.

New to Motorfair this year will be the opportunity to take part in the action.

For the first time, there will also be a chance to sample some of the estate’s gravel roads at high speed strapped into the passenger seat of a 200bhp MG ZR Rally Car.

Team drivers Matt Stephens and Miles Johnston will act as chauffeurs for the runs through the ‘Super Mini Special Stage’, parts of which skirt the actual stage used by crews contesting Rallye Sunseeker itself.

MG XPOWER EXTREME is now in its third full year of offering members of the public this thrilling experience and Matt & Miles agree. “If you really want to see what rallying is all about first-hand, you have to be on the inside! It’s great that the organisers of Rallye Sunseeker have been able to accommodate us in this way. We have already put on demonstrations at many different venues with the MG POWER EXTREME RALLY Tour but, once again, Rallye Sunseeker leads the way as this will be the first time we have been able to operate during a proper rally.”

Tickets for the rides will be available on the day (26th February) at Motorfair.
