He seemed very down to earth and not at all luvvy (unlike the aloof Clarkson who was an utter snot when I saw him at the 'ring).

I have a road angel in my car, and every time i turn it on I hear "RoadAngel" in Tiff's Tonsular Tone. When I barked it at him he laughed and and wanted to know how accurate the speed reading was (bob on as it goes). He also mumbled something about overtaking him on the A43 transonic velocity. If I knew he was the driver of the 545 estate I would have made it supersonic.

He also gave me a bollocking for getting too close to cameras at the timing beams (well Craig did say to get close for the photo shoot) as 2 inches () at 170 mph frightened the crew somewhat. Hope they use the clip!

His fascination with the Porkahs was a bit of a let down though. Shame the Uber-panzer was under-pantser yesterday. Could have showed him how to drift properly ..ahem.

Seemed like the producer was running him ragged… … he appeared noticelbly more relaxed at the end of the day… apart from complainig about the TVR's burbling… (over to Rude Girl)

He didn't really complain, it was all very good natured. I only had a few words, but thought he seemed a very pleasant chap, not at all starry. The whole crew were very impressive I thought; professional, kept a low profile and got on with it.

Now I know he's probably reading this I'll apologise now and say that I wouldn't have left the engine running if I'd known that they were doing a piece to camera, or if I'd have thought that the noise would carry from that far down the runway

Let's see what they have to say about us when it gets broadcast

That was hilarious.....Susie stepped out of your car and said "We got a little close to the Land Rover by the timing kit <giggle>", cue Needell wading in.

Well funny. I hope they use that too!

Seemed ok. Surprised he didnt have a few more passenger laps or even drive some of the cars.

Quite surprised he had a 5 series estate. I would have had him down for owning something a little more sporty.

Would have still preferred to have had VBH there though

To be fair, that Beemer did shift a bit.

Agree about the rides though, thought he would have wanted to drive a few of the cars.

Yep, it was a loan car & was quick.

I think he didnt drive because of potential insurance implications if anything happened & also be a bit of a busmans holiday for him.

Or maybe he can't drive at all, and use a 'double' for the close up scenes

Come to think of it that BMW was an automatic, and my nephew who's only 7 could drive that.

After driving a very fast car belonging to a "participant" in an unrelated previous event, which ended up with a full rebuild charged to the insurers, TV Progs are apparently very wary of folk like Tiff driving opc's these days.

If you happened to be standing near the burger van at the start of the day and overheard a conversation I had with Tiff, you may have been surprised by the (good natured) effing and blinding from Mr N as I had the temerity to mention that very episode - seemed reasonable since although it wasn't my car I was there at the time - but he certainly had a view to express about the end result! Fortunately his undeleted expletives delivered through a broad smile weren't recorded for 5th Gear afaik

Given that Tiff had what must have been a very good day, hopefully personally as well as professionally, with a bit of luck he'll mention VMax to Vicki. Initially when I approached Tiff with Craig's approval, I contacted VBH as well. She hasn't said no...
