Would any of you be interested in hiring wireless bullet camera's and (if needed) recording equipment for the next VMax or trackday?

I might be able to get hold of several of these puppies and am thinking of £30 for the bullet cam kit and £70 for a bullet cam kit and digital camcorder (for the day)

The bullet cam will attach to your car on the outside via 2 heavy duty suckers (paint work friendly ) and you'll need a camcorder in the car recording the action transmitted wirelessly into your vehicle (so no wires at all through the window )

Let me know if this would be of interest.

Wired bullet cams can be bought for less than £25 though...

I found parcel tape was the best method of fixing it for the day. It does seem a tad expensive.

These guys are wireless ones with a 1km range.

Where did you get the wired one for £25 from??

Also what sort of spec does the wired cam have?

OK so you'll be getting about £500 worth of kit for a day for £70 instead of shelling out £500 for something you use twice a year?

Oh why do people hire track day bikes when they can buy one for 5 times the hire cost? Because they don't want to shell out for something that they will use once or twice a year.

Also you don't have to worry about the model of camcorder getting old as you only hire it, you don't have to worry about the depreciation of the item as you are hiring it, you also don't have to worry about upgrading when new models come along etc..

Christ, why would people even bother to rent a house when for similar money they could get a mortgage...

How would you transfer the footage off the camera without a cable provided?

Buying tapes on top of that I guess? How can you learn to best use the camera when you just pick it up on the day? For £250 I imagine you could buy all the necessary kit.

If they borrowed the camera then they would have to either transfer the film digitally to their PC that night or use their own DV cassette. (all cables etc would be provided)

How can people learn to use the camera's? I'm sure people who want to learn about the best way to use a digital camcorder wouldn't borrow one, they'd buy.

Those people who want a days footage of them hooning round a track without shelling out for all the gear then they hire the gear.

Before the day all you can think about is preparing to film "this" or preparing to film "that".

On the day all you want to do is drive....

70quid goes a long way towards a tank of fuel...

all the best

Beats me Can never understand this
I would think most VMAXers have a camera already as they want to use it more than 4 times a year, they use it at other events also!

HIJACK...

Because I can afford to rent a rather nice house, but the amount I'd get with a mortgage would buy me a ramshackle shed... that's why ..

OK keep it on topic please.

Thanks for the comments adamt and I agree, £70 is a lot of petrol (but getting less by the day )

I'd be interested but with the following caveats:

1) It was less than 70 quid. 30/40 quid and you're more in the ballpark I reckon.

2) You offer a service where you'd take the kit away at the end of the day and dump all the footage onto a DVD or website. (included in the charge). I don't want to be fannying around with a borrowed camera or tapes.

I have a camera, but not a video camera. I also can't be arsed messing around with making stuff work. "I just want to wash my car and go"
