Quick question as heading down for the Monaco Historic in a few as part of my big 50 birthday celebrations.
My question is, we have grandstand tickets in stand K for Saturday and Sunday and wondered what the access restrictions if any where for say arriving late or leaving earlier? is access freely available into this area or are you restricted and effectively stuck for the duration of track action? Any other tips or advice welcome especially with regards to public transport in an out of Monaco from Nice.

Any replies greatly appreciated so we can get the most out of the weekend

Many Thanks

Ian

Hi

I have been to the last five Monaco Historic and you will have a blast of a time. We usually go in to K but I am pretty sure yours will be the same, so no restrictions on access. There is a footbridge over the track so you can come and go as you please. The seats are also unallocated so you can move around in the stand. Make sure any ladies have a sun hat as it can be hot facing the sun all day. They also have small stands selling snacks and beers and with few queues the whole experience is perfect. We always stay in Nice as Monaco is not only more expensive but not as pleasant. 15 minutes scenic rail ride from Nice to Monaco in the train which is better than a taxi. Coaches are good too. In Nice make sure you see the old town and flower market. Most of the restaurants round the old town are good and don’t suffer too much from being in a touristy area.

You will have a fantastic time.

Hope that helps.

I'm driving down with a group trip run by www.fasttracktours.co.uk My first time too but it sounds fantastic - we're also staying in Nice and using the train. Our drive down is over three days to take in scenic roads, and on the way back going through the Alps crossing back to UK on Friday evening. Should be really brilliant!

I would have loved to have driven my 911 down but time constraints dictate and I have to fly. We arrive in Nice Friday lunch time and depart Monday lunch time. Enjoy the drive I am quite envious. Where you staying in Nice? and what grandstands you in?

Cheers

I'm hoping to get to this in 2020, it seems like every other May something else pops up and stops me going.

Just to add. No idea of apreferences, but one of the highlights in Nice is to go to Wayne’s bar in the old town. Music every night that really gets going about 10.30 and everyone stands on the tables. Holding on to the piping and no regard to heath and safety (thank god). The stage is minute and you might bump in to someone who was there when U2 turned up for a drink and got up to play. There are photos in the bar. It’s a riot. Girlfriends get “bumped in to” but hey, it is what it is. There is also a great bar in the flower market that my wife refuses to go in to as too edgy, music again and pretty heavy but the balmy warm nights make it perfect. Can’t remember the name at the moment but if you walk through the market you will hear it.......

It’s the Thor bar. Walk in like you own it and go straight upstairs.....
