Slinkster,
Can you ammend the beetle to 543 bhp?
I'll try and retrieve the torque figures from the requisite dusty crevice also.
Went for a quick blast last night and so long as the damn thing holds together, this time I'm hoping for some decent times: the torque feels properly monumental and whereas before there was often a temptation to drop into 5th and squeeze, now it's more like holding top and surfing mountainously, like some Norse deity off Wai Ki Ki.
Indeed, as it turn out, all previous runs have been with no more than around 455 bhp which was proven to have been some way down on what I'd thought the car actually had but...
...I still think the wind will be the final arbiter of ultimate frustration but please, please, let it be a slightly higher vmax!
Having said all that, maybe the game's up for 'the old metal,' however frantically tuned, as the wash from Ford's GT, BMW's E60 slayer & of course, Alois's more determined efforts reign supreme.
There's also something coming from Leicestershire itself which also may redefine what a few of us thought as being 'fast...'
G-Man, over to you...

derestrictor said:Given the number of horses and likely torque mountain, I hope you manage to retrieve yon beetle from the horizon it'll be stuck in after the day's entertainment...
