Anybody else going along next weekend to what should be a truly epic event? I'm especially looking forward to the Maserati race - 14 250F's - also the sight and sound of the Ferrari F1 cars ....

I am going and I agree that it will be great, but I must declare an interest as a member of the organising team!

7 F1 Ferraris from mid 70s to 2000+, the grid of 20 Group C cars should epic, 24 pre-1961 racing Maseratis of which 14 will be 250Fs and loads of other very full grids, including 40 unsilenced 1950s racing motorcycles, lead by 8 times world champion Phil Hill.

Infield parking, free paddock access and only £15 per day on the gate. What else to do on a sunny weekend?

By the way, this is not gratuitous promotion, but rather informing like minded enthusiasts, lest they miss a great weekend! See you all there!

I am going on the Sunday, does anyone want to swop mobile numbers and meet up? I dont want to be Billy no mates, and these things are always better with knowledgable bods to kick about with and learn from.

This looks like an absolute cracker - the vintage grids are pretty splendid too and the price starts to make Goodwood a little expensive....

To be fair Goodwood is expensive is comparison but its like chalk and cheese. Theres some much more to the revival than simply the racing .... Donington ios simply about the racing.

Won't stop me from going to both though.

Only just seen this BG. Its unlikely that I'll be able to make it at such short notice which is a bummer, as I went to this last year (or 2 years ago?). ACE event.

If the unlikely happens, I'll drop you a line.

What a great day, fantastic weather for it. Thanks for the offer of a meet up Mr Viant & Oggs, I did wander over the the FOC area, but they were just getting ready to do a few parade laps and I didnt see anybody I knew. Also missed Ballistic because I didnt check my e-mails until I got home...doh!

The racing was brilliant, funny thing was, everyone was in the infield, hardly anyone was on the outfield. I sat at the Schwantz curve on the outside near Starkey bridge on the flat bit high up on the hillside outside that storage building, nobody was there. But it has got to be the best viewpoint I have ever experienced at Donington, I could see over half the circuit, from Hollywood, through Craner, the old hairpin, Starkeys, Schwantz, McLeans and up to Coppice. So I sat there all day getting a tan and enjoying the racing (with the odd break for a burger and bottled water). Sorry I didnt see anyone I knew, except Stanley Mann, but I had a nice time on my own as it happens

How come all the newer Ferrari's and stuff appeared to leave at 3pm and missed all the best racing? particularly the VSCC Seaman Trophy stuff. And the smell of Castrol R from the ERA's and Maseratis,
