Yes the English countryside can be very pleasant at times.

Big thanks goes out to Craig and the team for organising the day at such short notice.

Also to Ben and Rich for passenger rides in the Gallardo and the 360 Spyder. Finally to the Scum du Nord for giving me the keys to his M5 so I could resume the recently started tradition of a few Bruntingthorpe Taxi laps with the traction control most definitely turned off.

Guy, thanks for the run in the Ultima.

8 VMAXs later, and finally got in it.

Just wish I'd had a pee beforehand, ah well!!

Great day, 198 from the Viper top speed (I am told).

My first V MAX too. What a great event, I can see what all the fuss is about now ! Very happy with my 190mph.

Great day, and some lovely new machinery to look at, especially the Ascari and Viper.

The sound of the Viper, my goodness. Standing so close to it while filming its take off

Got some more great footage, including the 'mini-burnout', and plenty of the Ascari and Viper...no spins though.

Want another movie, slightly shorter this time.

Oh and a PB in the Tuscan of 166

Just for those VMAX-ers that did not know about this, Craig got a last minute cancellation from Bruntingthorpe and contacted as many people as he could - not easy when your computer is in an internet cafe!

Pretty hectic ringing around people and mails flying left right and centre but a good day had by all.

Ascari clocked 187, I heard?

Most fun for me was towards the end of the day lapping the circuit part just so I could get the Mini sideways through the left hander - had it pointing 60 degrees from the way we were heading at one point! Hilarious! Considering bringing it next time to see if I can bag 2 records:

Slowest 4-up
Most sideways 4-up

Anyone in doubt of the Mini's propensity for high speed lift off oversteer should ask Beeston & T996 Hopefully Mr Brett will have some pics of it....

Some glorious cars there on the day, shame the sun didn't quite break through in the end.

Big thanks to Phil for loan of his D1 MkII!

Did the Viper do 198mph? If so well done to Nadine, she definitely has some serious guts driving that beast - sounds awesome.

She was only getting 192mph before she removed the rear spoiler, wing mirrors and taped the shutlines, so it's interesting to know that she picked up an extra 6mph from those mods.......maybe one day I'll have to remove the rear spoiler from mine to crack the double-ton (I did 195mph four times and 196mph twice yesterday - so was boringly consistent).

PS pics will take a little longer than usual as I'm really busy at the moment, and on holiday from next Monday - will probably get them processed whilst on holiday and host them on my site. I'll make sure Craig emails the link to everyone as appropriate.

My first run was 161, folded the wing mirrors in and got 164, kicked the mrs out and got upto 168, could've got more but I need to practice the last corner onto the straight to carry more speed through it.

Thanks to everyone as well..... and I can now conclusively state that at 154mph the bonnet on a Sagaris creates enough lift to rip it off it mounts however you bolt it down.... time for TVR to do some mods I think!!!

Thanks again Craig!

Good to see the crowd at short notice, and a great day out. Liz enjoyed driving the Morgan, though the factory are going to get a call from me - 165mph! pah the Aero barely managed 139..

Still it goes sideways very very well and I had a lot of fun. Too much fun at the bottom corner at one point though - think podie might be suffering from PTS for a bit - sorry mate but thats what happens when theres a camera there to show off to!!

I can certainly say that the Aero 8 really is an experience - cracking car mate, loved it to bits... even makes a Chimaera look nice and saloon car practical

Mr Tony - "ooh, look a camera... time for some showboating!"
Pod - "oooh..."
Mr Tony - "oh, opposite lock" (car slews one way) "oops.." (car slews the other way)
Pod "ooooh.... nearly" (car slews back again)
Mr Tony - "ah well" (lets go of the wheel and we go into a 360 degree spin - backwards).
Pod & Mr Tony -

Thanks to Trackdemon for waving to slow the next lot of cars

Fantastic day, amazing machinery - big thanks to Craig, Greg, and all the people who took me out for a spin (literally in Mr Tony's case ). Will sift through some pics tonight.

Oh, and next time can we just have chocolate cake please...?
