PHing events in 2006

Looking for some excitement this year? We've lined up plenty of options

2006 should be a busy year for anyone looking to get out and about at weekends. We've teamed up with a number of activity providers to lay on all sorts of motoring madness.

Track Action Days

We've got three 'Track Action' days at Bruntingthorpe lined up for January and February (Saturday 21st Jan, Saturday 4th Feb and Saturday 18th Feb). These events are organised by Track Club who have a range of great track machinery that they'll let you try out.

Each day consists of five sessions of driving around the fast track at Brunters. The fleet of cars will include a Caterham CSR 260, an Ariel Atom and a Lotus Elise. Another 'wildcard' car will also be available. All attendees will also get a flying lap with an instructor as well as some timed spring sessions.

Each day is priced at £265 and places are limited to ensure everyone gets lots of time in the cars.

Ultimate Car Control Days

If you want some really in depth instruction showing you how to deal with your car at the edge of its handling envelope then an Ultimate Car Control Day could be what you're looking for.

Organised by former BTCC Champion Rob Gravett, these events are run at the Transport Research Laboratory in Berkshire. You can use your own car (most useful) or they can lend you a car.

Everyone is taught car handling through understanding of the dynamics of what happens to your car as turns, accelerates, brakes etc. This is achieved through a mixture of classroom instruction, where you learn the principles and then the more exciting practical, where you put those principles into practice on the tarmac.

A couple of dozen PHers have already been on these events and typical feedback was "That was the most fun I have had with the Chimaera since I got it".

The price for this event is (dramatically reduced for PHers) is £360. Numbers are limited to 12 people on each event to ensure everyone gets very personal instruction and the chance to practice intensely.

The January date is already sold out but places on the 4th March event are now available.

Dirt Drifting

This is a new one for PH. We visited Dirt Drifters in Hertfordshire just before Christmas and liked what we saw. They've got a great big dirt track laid out at their venue and two Rage Buggies in which to navigate it.

If you've tried a Honda Pilot before then you'll appreciate how exciting Rage Buggies are. The Pilots typically have a 12-13bhp engine, the Rage Buggies have twice that power! So, if you fancy blasting around their dirt track sideways in one of these fine machines then this is the day for you. Overalls are provided but you will nevertheless get very dirty! A great day out for a group to have some dirty fun! Quad bikes and Off Roading in a Land Rover are also part of the day.

Two dates are available for this: Sunday 19th February and Sunday 7th May. Price is a very reasonable £180 per head and you'll be worn out by the end of the day!

The Hoons!

Our Eurohoon driving holidays are now into their third year and judging by the repeat bookings we're getting, we're confident we've got the formula just right. We set out to create great driving holidays across the best roads in Europe for people who enjoy driving fast but want to do with a sensible bunch of like minded enthusiasts.

April 20th-23rd (Thurs-Sun) are the dates for Minihoon. This is our more luxurious trip deep into the Black Forest for a long weekend. Highlights include a stunning 5 star hotel (perfect for non-driving partners to relax with spa facilities and other luxuries) whilst petrolheaded attractions include derestricted autobahn, great roads in through the forest and a trip to the famous RUF factory.

Megahoon this year heads down to Monaco for 8 days of fine driving across many of France's greatest roads. Heading deep into the Alps, it will feature day after day of fabulous twisties and two days in Monaco before heading back via more of the same. 2,000 miles of hooning!

Details of all these events may be found at www.pistonheads.com/calendar/phevents.asp

We hope we'll meet many more of you on our events in 2006. We're always interested to hear what else you'd like to get up to too so do leave us some feedback in the forums.

Cheers,
PetrolTed

Any interest in a Prescott Hillclimbing Pher's Day?

I've been in contact with Prescott today about prices for hiring the place for a day.

Yes. Might be worth enquiring about a PH specific school day, i'd get a bit bored of drivign up teh hill with no tuition to get better.
