13th August - Lake District Sportscar meet-up
Discussion
Hello guys and gals,
Over the past two years I have organised a sportscar meetup in the Lake District in which after a static meetup we all go for a drive around the Lakes on some really good driver's roads in one of the UK's most scenic areas.
This year the event looks as though its going to be bigger and better than the previous two and the route chosen this year means you are in for a real driving treat.
*****
This event is only open to Sports / GT / Supercars types ...(no big 4x4's, corsas, novas etc. etc.).
*****
The event details can be found on this link:
www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=59708
The event also has a secondary purpose..... there will be an entry fee of £2 per person in which 100% of the money raised will be going to charity.
If you own a supercar / GT car, and live in the North of England (or southern Scotland)then this event is one for you.
(If you have any questions please feel free to email or post up in this thread).
Cheers.

Cars already listed to come along include; numerous Toyota Supras, a couple of Lotus's, a couple of TVRs, a few Mitso GTOs, a Lambo Gallardo, a few Skylines, a few RX7's and a bit of interest from a few Ferraris.
I know this event isn't until August but by putting your name down will generate more interest. :-)

Oh those were the days ...I've owned 2 uk tt supras in the past! lovely cars, I'm from cumbria, so if am visiting folks that weekend will endevour to come along, please keep me posted, cheers....oh do you know anyone interested in an original double din toyota supra car hifi with changer and amp??? I've got one gathering dust in the loft!
Yeah they are nice cars.... I've had mine for about 5 years ! Just can't bare to change it for anything else at the moment. Its been slightly tuned to around 400bhp and gets used only in summertime .... (I have a GT-four for winter).
If I didn't have chrome wheels on it I think I'd use it everyday... but along with all the other +ives for keepin it off over winter it feels like getting into a new car every spring when it comes back on the road.
Looks like there is going to be a good turn out of different cars on this Lakes meetup... you're more than welcome to attend ... if your car falls into the GT / supercar / sportscar category that is ! ;-)

A Supra is most definitely a GT car.
I think that making the event limited to such cars brings along a certain driver who is going to be more responsible. The last thing I want is for a load of Novas and Saxos trying to race bigger cars and driving dangerously. Smaller cars are usually driven by younger less experienced drivers and all I'm trying to do is create an event with similar cars and drivers with the same attitude to haveing a good day out.
The smaller cars have a lot of their own events in and around the area. There is nothing in the cumbria area which is setup like this event.
It may be elitist to an extent but I think it safer to do it like this and it will create a good spectacle.

Woody - very nice car. Those TVRs always sound good.
The local TVR club organises a run of their own in our area.... I joined them last year and it was a good laugh.
Cheers...out of interest seeing as I've got hold of a few supra guys...are there any plans on bringing out a supra mk5 (or maybe renamed), that would be under 50k? I've seen a few things on one over 100 but not sure what else may be going about?
Its a shame they stopped the supras...a lot friendly faster (even tho the supra has 50 less bhp as standard, I saw 171mph on its clock and havnent seen over 140 yet on my tuscan and had it nearly a year!)and easier to drive than the tuscan...altho the tuscan sounds a million miles better and so are its looks
woody - there have been a few concept cars by toyota but none of them have officially been named as the MKv Supra. There have been rhumours flying around the internet that the MKv is already being designed but I don't think it is.
Toyota do have plans for another GT car aparently but I hear it will be released under the Lexus brand and will be named to something completely different.
I think they are going to be giving it the Toyota 4.5 V8 engine, but no doubt it will be heavily muted due to the tough emission laws.

And therefore goes completely against the ethos of PH. We don't give a toss what people drive so long as they drive enthusiasticly and safely. Our southwest meets are a perfect example, great driving from Daz in his £100k prosche, right down to me in my £400 bmw.
there are a lot of local chavs who I know for a fact would see an event like this as an axcuse to race bigger cars. In my view, to keep things safe and everyone on a similar level I have restricted the car types to GT/sports/supercar.
There's nothing wrong with putting safety first... even if this is against the ethos of other people views.
If it was simply a static meet I'd have no problem with any car attending. But becaue the aim of this meetup is to go and drive round a pre-planned route then the situation changes in my opinion. My appologies to the people who are not 'allowed' to attend but I think it will be better (safer) with the event setup in this manner.

Just thought I'd add the new weblink for this event also:

Please observe the strict car type attendance rules.
Supercar/GT/sportscars only.

AJI,
Thanks for a great day out. Just under 900 miles in two days and 12 hours of almost continuos driving yesterday. Had a wonderful time the drive home was OK managed to miss the worst of the rain. 10 miles from home had to drive through a flooded underpass. The foot well filled up completely and the drain holes were blocked! Luckly only my feet got soaked! Looking forward to seeing some pictures.
