Guys & Gals,

Sorry for not posting sooner, been a bit snowed under.

Thanks once again, I think I spoke to all of you on the day & what a good bunch of vmaxxers this time. All very harmonous & some gentle banter & rivalry only added to the fun.

It was a great fun day with some awesome speeds & even more awesome machinery. At one stage we had a 20mph cross wind but even that couldnt match the torque of some of your chosen weaponary.

Thanks to (almost) all of you for taking it easy when I asked you, it did help, also the odd 2 or 3 cars which were over the noise limits kept the revs right down when asked, this made my job easier, so thank you.

Spring should see the return of reigning chamption vmaxxer guyr & also the ruf massive adam & mike so the bar will be raised further!

Until then its a mantle jointly held by LeonS & DrHildr at 198mph, i believe their speedos were about to snap off at the time!

Highlights of the day for me....the mighty Dodge Ram truck, the v10 throng of the Carrera GT, the beautiful Gallardo spyder & the M5 boys. simon's Murci, even roaring on silenced pipes!

The continued efforts of mod500 & derestrictor to keep the economy afloat by pouring funds into the 993 pork funds, in particular that ballistic yellow missile resulted in a 193mph run, unbelievable!

The fabulous new 997TT's & the solid reliabilty of all the other assorted Pork hammering in consistent 185mph+ runs were a joy to watch & the Kleeman sl600 keeping everybody honest & making it look like a 195mph stroll to the golf club!

The jap boys, how big can your turbos get???

Phill Brett & the noble posse, what the hell were those 180mph runs all about, its just not right!

Also the mega 4x4 Audi's, CSls & other beemers, loved watching you on the bottom bend.

finally the TVR boys out doing what they do, pure v8 grunt, excellent!

Thanks again, see you in 07.

It just gets better.

One last thanks to Andy & James for all their efforts & keeping me awake on the way home! & to Dave & Matt from bruntingthorpe for allowing us to use their fabuolous airfield.

Craig.

Hi Craig and Team - I can only echo all these sentiments and thank you for laying on the show. Never fear, the Yellow Peril is looking forward to the Ruf shoot out in 07 with Leon, Adam and GuyR waiting in the wings I am sure it will be fun.... Just as long as Markbe doesn't rain on the parade with his gin palace! Or perhaps a heavy duty Ultima 0r ...(fill in the blanks...) will come to do battle?

It can't be long before someone brings a Veyron... can it?

Thanks very much to the people who organised it, I had a great time and it's spurred me on to spend some dosh on the big aussie barge. 600bhp turbo kit maybe?

I wish i could have made this one. but it wasnt to be.

the 300C SRT 8 will be at one in '07 if i get invited that is?

Is there a record for a car with 4 or 5 people in? and for silly interest, whats the slowest max speed ever recorded at a vmax? I fancy bringing along the Baleno just to see If I can set a new lowest highest speed thats all!

The most likely outcome of this is that you'll have a very, very boring day.

There really isn't much to see on your 2 mile trip down the runway, and it could take a loooooooooooong time in a Baleno. hehe

I managed a 177MPH with a full load in the RS6 the time but last.

Me thinks the CL cracked about 186MPH with 4up so defo holds the crown.

looks like that wont be beat by the 300c, its limited to 168 and it may not have enough power to pass 160 on this runway, but we shall give it ago.

the Baleno should have a top speed of 118. be interesting to see if it could do it. And you wont be able to gaze out at the view due to its unique steering system, the front wheels are connected to the steering wheel byt nothing more than E.S.P. and by that I mean Extra Sensory Perception. you kind of have to think your way around, the steering wheel is merely a placebo to fool your brain into thinking you actually have to move the wheel about.

Bound to b a laugh tho.

Hi Craig, I would like to enter my Corvette C6 Z06 in your next event.

I was at Brunters on Thursday and hit an indicated 191mph from a standing start and 197mph on a flying lap. However I also had GPS onboard and that seems to say that the Euro-spec Z06's speedo overreads by some 11mph at those speeds!

So are your events speeds taken on flying laps or from a standing start?

Oh and my car is in the workshop at the moment being gently massaged up from 505bhp to 616bhp courtesy of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering...

Now that'll be interesting yes

Speeds are taken by laser trap at about 1 & 3/4 miles along the back straight.

We start just after the twisties so that you get a nice mile or so gallop down to the big sweeping right at the bottom, then onto the back straight and welly.

Some of us have tried both the normal way and having standing starts, there seems to be very little in it, a couple of mph historically ... plus the standing start will nack your clutch in more.

Keep your eye out on the forum for the next one, probably about feb/march time or email Craig via his profile.

Look forward to seeing the car yes

Cheers guys. As for further tuning, I doubt it very much; the Z06 is pretty traction-limited in stock form, let alone with another 111bhp!
And I want to maintain everyday drivability and track performance, not just maximise straight line ability.

All the LS7 needs to liberate that 111bhp is a cam, air intake, exhaust manifold and ECM swap. Total parts cost $5700.

The next stage is twin turbos which involves shipping back to the States and $46k! Talk about law of diminishing returns...

Their $225k 1100rwhp demonstrator failed to beat a stock Z06 to 60! (OK it did go on to reach 212mph in a standing mile...for sale now at a bargain $130k)

Interesting; must be the cheapest way into a 1000+bhp car.Approx £100000 tax paid in the UK.
