weather is a bit suspect in January though, anyone know the Rings schedule for the New Year?

Unfortunately not. It is currently in West Africa as I am at school and under age to drive here in Germany (one more year. Thats the only good thing about the USA: only have to be 16). I would be up for going in mid to late January if we can get a good sized group.

Pretty risky weather-wise in Jan. Most people swear by April onwards:

It would be better for me in April as well. I will possibly be spending a week near the ring.

it will be snowing there as have friends who live near adenau in Herschbroich

the winters are savage and you will be lucky to get in before March.

you could always do a lap in your snow chains?
